Wow the Justice League of misinformation has really started to put up a fight. /s

Hey Testerguy19 I want to say me and iXionn are very well aligned in his views, so that would mean we are very well aligned as well. But I believe you misinterpreted what iXionn stated. He felt work on a Ren'py version should have started 4 years ago, not started in 2015.

I want to touch base on the "hard to believe" comment. This is specifically the reason we're putting in effort in this thread. I asked for people to reach out and offer direct scoreing of the Gotham 0.51 build. You weren't one who reached out, but I had about 4 people. The communication score on all those cards were 0, or NA. Most comments that came out were that there was no communication on F95, and they didn't know what to believe. But the one that forced our change was the fact the person didn't go to Patreon as all the posts were $1.00, and he didn't believe any of you either. He loved the game, but had no idea what was fact and what was a lie. After that I came here and started interacting with you all, to clean up the narrative and bring it inline with our supporters (all supporter cards, and those who interacted on discord/free chat were 9-10/10 for communication). That person is now a supporter.

Can you explain why you find us hard to believe? Why do supporters, discord members, free chat members, all distrust this forum, and not us? If your answer is that all patreon users are retards, then what about the 40k members on discord?

/QUOTE]

This forum, discord, your supporters and frankly what the internet says should be taken with a grain of salt, it's the internet and what else there could be--it's quite meaningless to put that much thought into it. It's not day 1 knowledge that there is hostility/a bad relationship between F95 and discord/supporters. I left the discord channel ages ago because it was too toxic and reeks of tribalism and I have no interest in rejoining for something that big. It's hard to believe in the sense with the track record you guys are putting out can be disappointing.

I didn't/wouldn't reach out because I honestly could not care much and I only pop on F95 time to time, this is a game I have not played for a few years except trying out the latest standalone builds and it's surprising you guys are here more than I do so I'll give you that; which is funny seeing GSG around when it feels ancient and weird just popping up again replying comment after comment suddenly around these recent times when it's something that is so rare to happen. Frankly it feels a bit late for some narrative cleaning imo when it could have been done ages ago and now it feels oddly like this PR campaign you guys are trying to come up with to make it fit and spin. Who does not have narratives to fit their own perspectives and align better? In this case it's you guys, even with a $1 announcement that combined with a track record of previous ones that don't really deliver and measure up to expectations, it's hard to believe for me as well.

I mean I'd rather not waste much time responding to everyone if I were in your shoes, if you guys are clearly that busy or whatsoever. And yes I acknowledge misquoting on iXionn but I'm fully building on what he said--whilst RenPy should be around 4 years ago to begin with, but coming to think about it that should have been the start of development instead of utilising Unity.

It's easy to lose faith or simply say you guys are just milking for money, I mean who doesn't work for money? Time after time updates have been disappointing and off putting so people naturally lose interest, with the recent standalone builds being a wholly example of somewhat bad timing (again, the RenPy model argument still stands when honestly all of this could been done when those events began)--but with Unity all these codes are too damn complex and the art has been a mixed bag (while I understand artstyles need to change and evolve for artists to experiment, there's only a certain amount of time and some go far to exaggerate proportions of it). I also don't get it for getting inline supporters when people think differently because we're all gonna end up with too much groupthink/circlejerking/echo chamber regardless anywhere, whatever you and I name it. Poor communication has also been a big problem for many years (given SU is a game that's about a decade old now) but not until recently witnessing you guys popping up again, and I guess good for you guys gaining a supporter, that's their choice since they love the game more than I do.

But don't take my words for granted/personally when I find disbelief, this is all purely my opinion and observations throughout so don't take any offense. People can choose what to believe but unfortunately I'm not going to be a supporter on Patreon and you got an army of believers and supporters--world's too small for someone like me when I got other things to do/look forward to, and plaiyng other games/checking other threads. Sure, this forum is shit, your followers could already be hounding on us about this bad blood or any of our comments/input but does it really matter? Which part of the internet isn't going in different directions nowadays that is either for a good change or spiraling downards? You and whoever can choose to distrust this forum just like how some people including me don't exactly trust you guys as well. F95 is just one small speckle of a forum/place in a big sea just like your supporters/discord channel that can feel insignificant because there's a lot more games and devs out there besides SU, it's about that personal freedom of choice. 40k discord members doesn't really matter much does it regardless of big dove numbers. There's definitely other games I've played/seen with better tonal consistency, addresses things well, and sometimes even with troubled developments/delays etc, there's still better communication and engagement which I would prefer to lean into that with good criticism and feedback and also a better community in general overall/

So lastly to phrase off such a long ass essay, is that if you're gonna keep up to your promises to people that follow or want to actually believe in a good dev spirit/management, you gotta keep doing up for it to a good cause and sometimes it's not just empty promises. Something like BoB2, it used to be a worthwhile for me but the wait but patience can only run thin for so many times. Maybe one day I'll come back to play it or maybe not similar to SU since there hasn't been an actual update of the game last year excluding the builds, but it's just my 5 cents pouring out so much of my long thoughts and certain feelings towards this with no ill will. At the end of the day we're all doing what we can to survive in today's times and the foreseeable future, and I'll end with saying best of luck to your endeavours.

I have a questions tho. Is the next update gonna be Gotham and when will you drop the beta test cause I wanna support when I can play that shit
We haven't announced what the content will be (keeping that a secret, for some teaser fun). But our goal is August, so far we're just outside scope, so we need to do some adjusting of planned content.

If I were you, you can become a free member of our Patreon (you do get membership offers occasionally to save some $), then only sub when you see teasers releasing. As well we're now on anniversary billing, so you don't get charged on the 1st if you sub on the 31st. Or you can just purchase the post (the price is marked up to not devalue the on going support of others). So the most economical way would be to wait for teasers, sub, then cancel your sub immediately.

I want to thank you very much Testerguy, based on you reactions I honestly didn't believe you would be someone who would take the time to explain your position like this. So I will do my best in my response to keep the dialogue going.

I understand from your perspective that the internet should be taken with a grain of salt, and personally I agree. I spent 2+ years on 4chan, and 8chan discussing our game. This stuff doesn't bother me much, however it is my job to improve our communities, and we're reclaiming ownership of this thread. If that means the factual narrative frustrates a member here and they block me, then that is ok. We're not here to help them, were here to help others, like that one member who became a patron after issuing his score card.

I want to touch base on the poor communication. This is only a complaint from F95, and has only been a complaint from this thread. I don't blame them, this place is not creator friendly (unless you're anti developer already, or very small). So that also means that we as creators are not fans of this place either. We have seen F95 take down large patreon accounts with brigading, and false reports, which lead to big bans from here. Accusations of AI usage is rampant, that also results in major bans. If you think creators are fucking retards, than you found your family here. Contrast that with environments that are less hostile, Patreon, Discord, Reddit. Those are the places that give us 9-10/10 communication scores, and routinely being told we're one of the best and most transparent accounts on Patreon. I know I won't get rid of those who think everything a creator says is bullshit, but I hope to encourage more conversations such as yours.

I agree with you on consistency, and that largely has been explained over and over. We're focused on consistency, and have been for a long time. I'm glad to see that you can separate personal belief over factual reality, and your mistrust in us, which is probably a result of multiple things. I'm not here to convince you to support us, frankly as you pointed out we get lots of support. I'm here to promote more great conversations from people like you, and others. Just like we did with our discord and Patreon.

Once again thanks for the unintended quick response, I guess we may see things on differently/other levels not and agree to disagree because we're just people, and thanks for reading out this much since I've never given this much feedback to a creator back to back like this it felt very refreshing all of a sudden. Unfortunately F95 is the last place I'd ever recommend to someone but it's also one of the slightly better ones to find games in terms of quality and search amongst others. I didn't say all creators are absolutely retarded, but rather some of them have been on a better feedback loop and somewhat fosters a better community--that perspective really depends on which game you're aiming to game/tread for so anything is really a Russian roulette.

If you're here to well...take back (or claim control if you wish) this thread you really needed to be aware and acted way earlier when and even if things go out of hand, at least there's some crowd control and better management--inconsistency and not being on this place very often until now will definitely drive a wedge, it's a psychological thing behind a screen no matter what. But that time is gone and you can only do as much as you can honestly. It's somewhat good and sometimes rare that creators could channel or directly talk on the F95 threads which makes a better cause of progression and reactions/feedback, but for you guys this is a matter of time and many other issues, and to be clear your dev team aren't the only ones--I wouldn't just be singling you out because I don't just play SU, there are other good and bad ones so this is more objective than subjective due to multiple things at once.

My stance is that I'm very neutral and impartial to other social medias in this day and age--technology is more drawn, addictive and dangerous that Discord/Reddit/Patreon is very corporate that it's harder to figure out about AI, misinformation, and dead internet theory. Make no mistake I am not really endorsing this place despite my views that may align more with this site but it's moreso the time I've spent here, but it's engaging to have a honest and unique conversation that it's hard to find around nowadays. I just don't subscribe to most of these social medias because despite the fact I'm on most of them like most people eventually it feels like a useless empty void of nothing across the internet, it can be toxic/exhausting/troublesome amongst other problems and I do prefer real human connection and talking/commitments/intimacy despite the advancements of media and tech nowadays, or perhaps I'm oldschool and prefer those good old days and wanting to strive for something more authentic/natural/real.

There's a lot of complexity that has lead to these unfortunate situations since F95 is still quite a giant place of a forum, so what my thoughts are belong to mine and I'm at least one to be able to see through it--I am simply a gamer/consumer and not a dev though I would like to be one day and it's the investment in sexy stuff/art/writing/styles/gaming/fulfilling entertainment etc. At least you would understand this would be fostering and should do more in going in forward with others. Once again, keep up with the works whenever you can, I may have lost a lot of passion and interest but there is still a small flame of support that goes on. One day, we may cease to exist, but there's still some enjoyment and horniness to be found here.

Since early last year we have only banned 5 people on discord (1 is a troll from here FreelancerFL, a spammer, and 3 hacked accounts). On Patreon I banned 2 accounts last year. Both those bans were for issuing multiple month charge backs (one was 2 years of patronage).

I have an excellent relationship with the mods here and ownership here (I could be wrong, but we're actually the only dev with a Patreon disclaimer on our OP), and have had plenty of posts removed, bans or temp bans issued. We actually took ownership of our thread years ago, and Sam and the team are great.

We get a ton of traffic from F95 and honestly there are a bunch of supporters that prefer the forum format over comments, or active chat rooms like discord. Frankly F95 does a shit ton for us, and I think last time we polled people over 60% of our supporters found us through here. I don't even have to shill, and pump hype, you guys come complain and bump the thread, and send curious people over. It's been our organic marketing strategy from day 1.

As for the early way we acted, this thread takes itself very seriously. I had F95 mods, and many others laughing and enjoying the content. The thing is traffic didn't budge. We didn't see a decrease in traffic, and we didn't see an increase. However much fun I was having there was little to no benefit spending 30 mins trolling here. Even the fake DMs about guys loving NTR (who clearly didn't) got reported, and were taken down. All was great fun, but the needle didn't move so it was wasted effort. However our recent approach has had our traffic numbers bump +20%! So, I do agree that there was a fair bit who have wrote us off, but they were probably long gone anyways. For every one of those who don't visit we have 50+ who do.

My hope is that we can encourage more discussions like these. Where sensible conversations can happen. Sure we're going to get the guys who state personal feelings as fact. But I can correct the narrative here, rather than hoping those users head over to our page and get the truth. Hopefully our next score card has communication numbers much higher for F95 users, and that is the only goal.

Is it possible to have sex with the hired villains in the mobile version? I can't find the option to have sex with the hired villains from the hideout like the PC version. Does this option have to be released yet? I saw that the mobile version is only one update behind the PC version.

So, I'm a little confused. I understand that creating animations would be too time and finacially consuming at the moment and you won't be able to release updates in a timely manner if you were to do so, but I havent seen real clarification for it. Are animations tossed out the window or are there still plans to add them in eventually?

None of the images in all of SU are optimized to animate. That means we would have to go over each image in order to animate it, and either re-draw certain frames, or entire pictures. All of this is added to having someone do the key-frames and animate.

For SU animations will not happen.

Seeing as you guys have decided to become a bit more active here and are switching from Unity (finally!) I am excited for the next chapter. However I would caution the way you try and do this "rebuild". Ren'py really is an excellent platform for visual novels but the more sandbox elements you include. The more complicated and frustrating your development will be. However there are some amazing tricks to indulge if you have the right programming design. If you don't mind sharing. Do you plan on using the previous ren'py coded games as the basis for the continued development of the main game?

We explored AI, but kept running into consistency issues with Gen AI. It became apparent very early into our exploration phase. The consistency issues are huge, if you see a great AI animation, there is no way for you to tell how many hours of post processing those individuals do. There is a lot of snake oil in the AI space right now, and the masters carefully guard their secrets, as prompting is the competitive advantage.

I think the concept you're describing is called technical debt. Just like debt on a corp balance sheet it can build up to unhealthy levels if not addressed. I 100% agree with you in regards to this concept, and have been starting to realize the major issue with SU development was the technical debt build up, that has to be paid eventually. We're looking to add iteration into our processes and with that we will be making sure we address this technical debt much earlier (like next build), rather than 8-10 years later.

As for what we're using to move to PC. We're taking the Android build and adding all the stand alones currently. From there we will slowly replace all the lower quality images, with PC quality. This is mainly in the cells.

*For those wondering we had to re-size many images initially for Android, now to save space we have to optimize those same images again in order to get more content in the Android version. So we have to make sure all those optimized images are original quality.
