with the rebuild coming soon, it allows the Devs to pump out more content for old and new characters.

Yes, this game that has had sloppy but mostly 2 month releases is now going on the "once every three years" plan.
Use your brain man.

sigh, oh well, could be worse, they could update like oni
Nah, Oni's update schedule is actually more acceptable than GSG's. Why? Well, because he doesn't adhere to an update schedule. Oni's updates are never late, they're never delayed, he simply releases them when they are ready. It may be frustrating to wait as long as you have to for a Roguelike update that actually has content in it, but at least he doesn't pretend to stick to a schedule, clam up when delays are imminent, and then announce a delay three days past the point the update was due. It's more like "be glad they don't update like ICSTOR."

I'm so confused why they didn't say this during the release window, not 3 days after its ended. Like they should know how long its going to take. While they have said they revamped everything but the prison, this is the first they've said it was an extreme detriment

The Situation!

In preparation for this upcoming roadmap (targeting old characters) we were poised with a tough decision. Work through 5 year old programming, or rip it apart and rebuild it better. The answer was simple, the reason we avoided these characters for so long was because they were a mess. So it had to be done, a tear down! Well we went from the warning screen right through to the end of the game (minus the prison). What does this mean? Well we need extensive testing to make sure all is well (or close to well). So, that is where we are at, we are trying to close all the loose ends needed to push this update.
When will the update go out

This we cannot say at this point, could be in two days, could be later. Right now our main priority is to get this out to you guys.

After this update is out, we are in a prime position to finish off all the old characters.. Thank you all for your continued support and being patient.

What a load of bullshit. You don't tear apart old code databases to fix them. You update them as you introduce more organized, streamlined, and better working code. It takes very little extra time in the long run. A first year comp sci student would tell you that you'll only get ass fucked in the long run if you ever continue development past a point where old code and new code exist in tandem unless you've already made sure that they're compatible with each other. This is why I do not and will never donate to any patreon. With only a small handful of exceptions, virtually every single major and minor patreon funded video game project would get every single person working on it fired a dozen times over by any developer or publisher not operating out of their mom's basement.

I won't believe it until I actually see an old character get a decent update.
We won't
Lois is mostly complete
Also who did not see this coming
For a game developer company
If you have a project deadline and will not meet it before the intended release you let your customers know early

You don't let them get angry and annoyed for days or weeks at a time before you give a notice update
