No, just like art, sometimes its better to leave some things to your imagination.

It's nothing to do with imagination. It is either a subjective personal like or dislike, or more often than not, a work around which the creator had problems with. The pastel looking colours probably made eyes look extremely odd on the characters, or maybe he just cannot do eye designs.
