Strange that the folder name changed on the back end:
View attachment 4791784
Also, some of my later saves from version 0.0.1 wouldn't load (just kicked back to mainmenu) after I copied them to the version 0.1.0 folder.

Love this game!
Yeah it was the same for me. Maybe the game is so ahead of it's time the new folder is from April 24th, 2026. ;)

It wasn't the end of the world right now, as it's still early in. Hopefully that'll be sorted out before BlobGames gets too far into the story as having to restart every update will be a pain. Especially if older saves are manually moved over and inconsistently work.

Agreed (although I didn't investigate as fully as you did), it doesn't seem to make much difference at that time.

Since you looked at the code, were variables used to track the player choices in those menus? My best guess is that those choices/variables might matter later in the game (like when Lucy sends pics from the club? or in future releases, etc).
There look to be several main variables tracked:
  1. 'story_flags' is a dictionary that stores what I would presume are story-based decisions using a key/value pair. The Key is the decision tracking with a paired TRUE/FALSE based on the decision encountered/made.
  2. 'flags' is a another dictionary that I guess stores non-story based decisions? The format is the same as above.
    1. Four keys existed at the start of my first game, and others are added as decisions are encountered/made.
  3. Some decisions are stored in neither of the above two. For example, on Day 4 at the club if you send a selfie to Ryan it's stored as a regular Boolean variable ($take_selfie = TRUE). Not sure why some decisions are tracked outside of the two dictionaries created from above.
  4. Other general variables, such as money ($money), followers ($followers), and followers multiplier ($followers_multiplier) are stored as separate variables.
  5. Mood of the MC is a bit more complex. 'mood' is a string variable that stores... well the MC's active mood/arousal. It is populated by getting a set value from the 'Mood' dictionary. Yeah, case sensitivity is a thing. 'mood' is what the game uses to store the MC's active mood, which is taken from the 'Mood' dictionary. For example, if the mood needs to be set to Curious, it's done by $mood = Mood.CURIOUS in side the game, in which 'CURIOUS' is the key that maps to the value 'Curious'. There are 7 moods the MC can have.
    1. EDIT: I have not yet found any purpose for the mood status, other than as a prompt on the status bar. It seems to bounce around from scene to scene with no impact on anything. At the clothing store, it'll be 'Soaked' when watching the BJ, but nothing comes of it. She's so turned on but fade-to-black and next scene she's "Good Girl" mood. I guess we just have to imagine during the black fade that she resolved her horniness?
Not all decisions are tracked. For example:
  • On Day 1, the very first decision of: "Are you ready to be bold?" sets or changes nothing. It's just a flavor choice from the looks of it;
  • On day 1, if you flirted with Jason that is stored as a "flag". But if you accept the drink he offers, that's stored as $accepted_drink as a Boolean;
  • On day 4 at the club, you have a choice of: 'Get flirty' or "Chicken Out'. Neither choice is tracked, but you get a followers multiplier increase if you flirt.
In my opinion, storing some decisions as flags, and other as just base variables, will add a lot of confusion to looking at the flow of a game.

There are only a few places where previous decisions are checked (using if flags["<variablename>]" check if 'variablename' is set to TRUE. There are 5 decision checks on Day 1, and 1 on Day 4 for "flags" and none at all for "story_flags".

I do have one continuity question... perhaps it's my lack of understanding their situation, or a language/translation hiccup.

Lucy and Ryan are officially dating, right? Early in the game they are seen together, talking about being together, he said he disappointed they can't stay in the same dorm room, and they kiss each other.

If that's the case, why does Ryan refer to her as his best friend?

Shouldn't it say "... Though I have to admit, it's weird seeing my girlfriend becoming the talk...". I mean if I ever tried to call my girlfriend my "best friend" she'd probably be just a smidge insulted. Not because being best friends with your girlfriend is a bad thing, but her title and role should be girlfriend, who also has the benefit of being his best friend. More generic wording could be something like "... it's weird seeing you become the talk of...".

And if they are dating, why does he get embarrassed to say he likes her? When texting him after the clothing store trip with Mia, she sends blowing kiss emoji's and even says she loves him. But yet he's to shy to say he likes her?

If it's just a localization/translation issue, that's all well and good but I just want to make sure I understand their relationship properly. Otherwise I find the variations in their status confusing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I truly appreciate it
I'm gonna try to address all your questions, and feel free to send more questions as they come up.

Of course there's going to be some amount of lesbian content, but not yet, Lucy isn't mentally there yet. But it's not going to be like, "oh, I'm a lesbian now" or anything like that, she's still very very much into guys, but she's also open to exploration and trying new things, and one of those things is girls.

The gallery images are unlocked by finding and clicking splashes of pink throughout the story.

You're right, and that's by design. Saves from the first release are not compatible with the new version. The reason is that we went from navigating between different events manually, in the map, to a more linear approach. That was a breaking change for the old save files, which is also also why I changed the save directory, so that old saves are not loaded automatically.

And then to the more juicier questions:

The way I think about it is that we're still in the bad girl corruption cheating territory. I don't see Ryan, the boyfriend, as a straight up cuck, at least not in the traditional sense.

He gets off on the idea of showing off Lucy in public and the idea of her acting more like a slut, but he still expect her to come home to him at the end of the day and be loyal to him and him only.
He's playing a dangerous game pushing Lucy into exploring her sexuality and desires, and may or may not be prepared for the consequences.

Whether or not he needs to face any consequences is yet to be seen, and it will be up to the player to decide how much Lucy shares with Ryan about her adventures.
For example,
  • Will she tell him everything and if so, how will he react?
    • Will he manage and become a "willing cuck"? And would she even like that?
    • Or will it be the end of their relationship?
  • Or will she keep her adventures to herself and continue teasing and playing into his fantasies (while cheating behind his back)?

Personally, I'm in the "cheating behind his back" camp, that's where my head is at, but I'm also open for suggestions, and I can totally see 2 or 3 different routes play out in parallel depending on how the player want their relationship to evolve.
Personally I prefer a path where he's willing, the choices from this update lean heavily into the idea of him eventually being there. As someone else mentioned a proper NTS route should be considered if additional routes are on the table. The game is great so far, so I'll be playing it regardless of available paths.

You're absolutely right in that they are boyfriend and girlfriend with each other. I'll address the cases you've highlighted to get rid of the confusion. Thanks for the report!
