The new grift is getting ahold of an artist, making a coomer game. Then posting all about it on the chans/twitter (bonus points if you can crank out large amounts of work with animations quicky and then slowly drip them out) then abandon with regular promises for a year. Include some art to make it appear alive, kill the project / "release". Then repeat.I've said this so many times I'm growing tired of it, but I'll continue to say it, games DO NOT take this long to make IF the game dev is making it with serious intent of finishing.
Any game, ANY game, I don't care how big or small it is, whether it's one person or a team, if it's on year 6 of production and still isn't near the finish....they are not serious about the game, if that game has some kind of monthly donation set up and taking this long, they are milking you. No if ands or buts about it.
There are fully realized games out there that have a single developer that has a development time of 2-3 years some even less. I have no idea when it became the norm for games to take more than 6 years with half a year updates and people lap it up.

Sorry, how do you know about other games besides the milk series? I can't find any information(It's just hilarious to me that it's been 5 years. If you go on Kemono and look back at some of their oldest "Spoiler Art" from 2021, you'll see that there is a vast amount of content that has still not been put in the game to this day. Countless sprites have been pumped out and "Spoiled" on their patreon, and it's become extremely clear that it is litteraly just filler content to make it seem like they're being productive. It's also pretty clear that they don't have any intentions of actually adding these Spoiler Arts to the game. When you look at some of the stuff teased in 2020-2021, a lot of it still hasn't been added, but there is also quite a bit of stuff that only got added last year, which means their fully realized animations, sprites, and overall art assets take at least 3 years to actually be imported. So yeah all of the really well done sprite work they've teased this year, don't expect any of it to be added to the game till 2028 minimum.
I get that their team consists of like 4 people, and from what I've heard their programmers have been unavailable for various periods of time, making it very hard to continue development, which is why we see so much god damn spoiler art and no actual updates, cause the artists are working but the programmers aren't. I'm a game dev myself, and I can see that they struggle from terrible planning. Making a game requires a shit ton of coordination and effort, and if one dev isn't putting in their all then it all becomes incredibly slow, so I can excuse them for the slow updates-is what I would say if this game didn't start development 5 fucking years ago.
They have no intention of finishing this game, I am almost certain of that. Poor planning, coordination, and inconsistent work getting done doesn't excuse the fact that it's been 5 years. There are still unfinished areas in the game, countless NPC's that serve zero purpose and have like 2 lines of dialogue, as well as NPCs that were teased to have some kind of functionality at some point in the future, but to this day still have no function. Then of course the biggest issue is there is zero focus on finishing the main part of the game: the story.
In the past 2 years there have been little to no updates on the main story. If you've played the game already then you'll know that there are 3 heroines, the mom and the two sisters. After 5 years of development, not only is there zero progression or content for 2 of these characters, but the one that they actually put effort into: the little sister, still has an unfinished story. How do you go this long without focusing on the main point of the story, and instead work on literally everything else. This is a very big indicator that their programmer most likely didn't predict the scope of the game, and whatever event handler they had was likely not designed for the newer content, so instead of revamping the older systems, they instead focused on making new dungeons and NPCs with those older systems.
Regardless of the state of their backend however, the biggest fumble of theirs was deciding to work on mutiple other projects whilst this one was still being developed. The backrooms game, the other genderbend one, the furry one, and the wheres waldo one. Like what sort of logic goes through their minds to where they think working on multiple other games is a good idea whilst their main game isn't even close to being finished.
If you're seeing this as one of their Patrons, please cancel your subscription. The only way they'll actually update this game is if their money farm stops working.
Well I've never actually looked into downloading the other games cause IMO they look like shit, but I've looked through Kemono quite a bit and you'll see a lot of older posts about their other games, of which there are 3 that I know of.Sorry, how do you know about other games besides the milk series? Abandonware.Any news about the next update?
Ngl daily lives is overrated af and the only redeeming quality is the art, but there is no question that he is milking it hard. I used to praise it too when it came out, but it turned out to be an utter disappointment... At least i can understand why price for fredom is taking this long, it's way more complex. This is completely my opinion, but I personally don't mind if a patreon erogame takes 3, 6, 10 years to develop. Seriously. What ticks me off is the frequency of updates. Is it 6 years in development but we get new and relevant content frequently? Then hell yea. Price for Freedom: Avarice, Daily Lives of My Countryside, Tales of Androginy, and other examples have been a work in progress backed by monthly crowdfunding for years, but they make it worth it. PFF:A could very much be a retail game by this point, even, cuz it's a very well made CRPG.
But patreon eroge devs learned that they can cheat the system by releasing a very promising beta/demo, waiting for the pledges to reach $5k+, and then proceed to do borderline nothing for the next few years cuz people either forget to cancel the pledge or are asinine enough to keep backing it.
It breaks my heart with this case specifically, because I really love the art style of SML, and I'm fond of the "fetch quest for pussy" type of eroge. I would trade 99% of the games in this forum for a stable development of this single one, but we're stuck with a scam dev unfortunately.
Even if there's other people trying to keep the game alive themselves, it won't be the same if the art style changes. Unless they somehow can copycat that style very well, I don't have any hopes for the project.
