Man I was digging this game until I got a random Game Over. Maybe I didn't understand the rules. But I was playing for several hours and no save. I just cant bring myself to go through that all again. I was at 14 corruption, in combat in the forest that has the spores in it. Got KO'd with John so it auto removed collar. So what 18 corruption? Then the next fight against the duel shroom things I lost and got KOd. GAME OVER. I don't know why. Even with the +1 for ending a day I wasn't at 25.

Deaths are permanent for the natives of Roya. If you are about to lose a fight while an NPC is in your party, you will automatically remove the collar to prevent them from dying. If the collar isn't available, then it's Game Over.

This was explained at the start of the first night in Roya:

Yeah, I fucking hate it when that happens. Play for hours then you lose your progress like that. Just as a general tip for any game that lets you save any time: make lots of save games. Make shit tons of them. Be paranoid, lol. You'll thank yourself later.

With the exception of a couple situations it's not really possible to lose hours of progress in this game unless you:
  • Turned Autosave off
  • Overwrite your closest autosave because you completely forgot it was a thing
  • Find yourself in one of those exceptions (autosaved immediately prior to a boss battle that you are completely unprepared for)
But yeah, in a game where you can save during pre-fight dialog it's not a bad idea to have at least a couple saves running.

haha now that I see it I do remember! There was a lot of info thrown at the start, and it must have slipped my mind. I was so focused on the aspect of keeping my Corruption down I totally forgot about this.

There are no progress requirements in Roya except for getting the lewd stats described in some mental changes.
In your case, you need to interact with the computer that's in front of the tile with the purple marking in the Knowledge Room.
Does the game ends after chapter 3 for now ?
