No. Although if you kill mentioned boss the first time you could then you could miss some h-scenes.
It's not about Avian monster, and the one that appears with hermit is not the same as the one near Jacob's farm and much tougher

If you are talking about the Young Avian near Jacob's farm then I always make them enraged, then ambush them with prepared Taiwind I to counter debuff. Charlotte casts Heat Up I, and if she survives on the next turn then again Heat Up I. Then she could use Fire I. Aura Attacks them possible using Light I to get Tactical Advantage and get critical damage on the next turn. But check your stats because Aura must have enough ATK and DEF to defeat them even if Charlotte dies on the second turn

For certain specific quests you have party members, and once you learn to summon the slime, you can always have the slime in party.
Keeping James alive is rough, the requirements for Horror are already high, giving up on 50% extra life for that long is I think too much. Maybe someone else should be teaching that spell.

If that's the first hidden loot item you've found, you've missed *a lot* of items and gold.

20 lewdness before the festival is quite high. I don't know if you can even avoid the pink version of the final day of training if Aura's up to 20 lewdness and already accepted Arwin as her master. That said, the primary thing that determines how difficult passing the check comes from not resisting Arwin on both day 1 & 3 of training. Without the master Arwin passive it's a relatively straightforward willpower check.
Also, saves compatibility has been a focus for most of the game's existence. You should be fine moving the save forward to future versions.
You've missed lots of loot if you're not looking for it. A LOT. It's a theme that's introduced in the goblin infested forest that you will frequently find things partially hidden from view. I'm pretty sure every humanoid skeleton has loot. I'm also not sure what your complaint about James, 50% life (do you mean damage?), and learning horror is. He only teaches the third rank of the spell, and you certainly don't need to learn it to beat the game. I very much doubt that a hidden rank three spell is going to get an alternate teacher though. Killing James is also totally optional.
Certainly not first, when it looks like loot or unusual I certainly check it.
I know human skeletons are loot, but this one is hidden. In forest stuff sparkles also it is also a matter of distinction.
It is one thing when on map with green/brown palette there is some hidden blue loot. Another thing is when the palette is grey/green, vision is distorted and then you hide grey skeleton behind green plant.
No I mean life. Lifeshaper gives insane amount of life and you can pretty much get it as soon as you unlock Nephlune. I'm quite certain it is not worth sparing him but I want to get it (Horror III) this one time.

Do you mean you stepped on a trap, or you have a persistent negative to a stat?
Because a persistent negative is caused by something, always, but I can't tell you what that something is if you don't give me more and better information, like a screenshot.
Just "minus status" in unhelpful.

Cool thing about James is he can help you in the final battle if he is still alive. Not really worth giving up Lifeshaper in gameplay terms but a nice detail regardless.
Game can be frustrating, the journey through depths sure classifies but when the plan works it sure is satisfying.
