I found the turn from the bandit camp to the ending overall like sort of an anticlimax, but the ending I got itself wasn't too bad.
Sounds like you found a good one. I got into the Tyrants castle and it ended after some nonsense. Maybe it's time to take another look.

I don't agree Alexander or Tomas are macho despite the genre they're in [...] What I think is part of his MC template is that, unusual for the genre, they're all reluctant to form a harem
Fair enough, maybe macho wasn't the right word. I do remember you mentioning the reluctant harem holder idea before. It fits well.

One thing the TRS series is strong with though is physical contact between Chiel and Garrett. Or I better say Chiel putting her hands on Garrett.
It was probably my favourite thing about the first game.

In other news, and to avoid double posting, chapter 4 of Occultus: The Craving is out on ! In this episode, Cerys and Malady finally meet and agree to an uncomfortable alliance and with that, the story has finally been tied to the previous game's Kin to Chaos DLC.

I don't think there's an active story oriented harem list on this site but, assuming :
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

The first Terminus Reach: Sentinel game is in it, but the other 2 aren't. Jufot tired of Garrett's personality in the sequel, and more generally Talothral's style for sex scenes.
Thanks for the recommendation Sorcerer was not bad, although sometimes it seems like I'm playing a sex marathon.
Although it's a pity that there are strong plot branches.
I may not have understood Healslut, but I didn't like her, I don't like it when there are constant choices.
I'm already following Eternum, but the rest didn't really interest me.

So I tried Being a LAWYER Layering A DIK Law School. It was scarcely mentioned before and I wouldn't talk about it if not for two reasons - to trigger jufot, and to point out a thing that it does that made it fail for me as a game.

Now, initially it didn't inspire much confidence in me, it's inspirations being blatantly obvious but seeing as the game is from the author of Entrepreneur and I had nothing better to do I decided to give it a go.

I'll start with the positives - production value is great, character models, although sometimes overused aren't bad. Visually it's a little bit like Summer Heat style dipped in glitter.

Visual composition is okay, it's a typical AVN fare, nothing particularly cinematic but it's inoffensive.

The strongest part of the game is undoubtedly character writing. There are hints of some kind of larger plot beat structure but as of season one it's 95% character subplots and those stories are very well written. The dialogue feels very natural (on reviewer even hilariously complained in a two star review that it's "too realistic") and all the characters, albeit tropey mostly read like actual human beings.

As for negatives - I would say that overall the game suffers from lacking a strong meaningful conflict and generally being very milk toast. There's a mock rivalry with one of your coeds that very obviously quickly falls for MC because of course she does (and so do like 90% of the girls, I suppose it's fair for what it is but it definitely didn't feel in any way earned) and a different one with another student and that one doesn't go anywhere either.

Now to circle back to the negative thing that made playing through this game rather frustrating for me. The MC himself is very bland despite the game having an "alignment" system where you have a score defining whether you're good, bad or neutral. Now, the problem I have with that is that LIs that you have access are for some inexplicable reason tied to your alignment, and there's absolutely no rhyme or reason that I could discern as to why they belong to one or the other category. So, as I was playing through the game making choices that I felt would be natural to make I suddenly found myself locked out of the LI I was interested in and so I was like "welp I guess that's a no LI playthrough then" (that's how you do it, Zero End).

It feels like a remarkable failure of a game getting in my way of trying to give cardboard MC some personality. I should be fair and say that there are "cross path" LIs that are available regardless of what path you're on, and the Rivals to Friends arc isn't that bad, but the game doesn't really do a good job of delineating whether you're actually having a platonic relationship because neither MC nor LIs stop making googly eyes at each other all the time.

Final thing I should mention is that there is a *lot* of content. Like a lot. I was begging for the season to end and there were more and more scenes. I mean general content, not sex scenes.

I think this is the last that sealed it for me. I was already rolling my eyes that the MC is so special that he is already getting school perks after a few days. I think this is really just porn logic without the sex part. So many college settings have some sort of prodegy that is leading the field in some inexplicable way.

And that the free roam stuff matters what order you do stuff with without any hints what order to go in. At one party I talked to the DJ, then ran into some girls that wanted a specific song, but I couldn't talk to the DJ again. Why? The DJ is so busy that there's one request per customer? I don't even think I'd developed far enough to know which LIs would be available at my alignment to know who to pick a song for.

And then towards the very end I switched my alignment and all my possible love interests. And, this is also an example of not being good for people with poor eyesight. I was having a hard time even figuring out who was on my path. And then they switched. It was also a pain for me in the free roam events to figure out who I was picking to talk to (combination of bad eyes and too many LIs and names to keep straight early on).

It is just way too complicated for the amount of thinking I want to do on a story that isn't that interesting.

I am not sure I've given up on it, yet. Because I do like the characters and that there seems like there are other men who aren't just there to be some sort of competition for girls. They may even end up dating people that the MC has closed the path too. But, it is also a lot to play through on the next update when I am this disinterested :ROFLMAO:.

Thanks for the review! It has been on my radar since The Entrepreneur was finished, but I couldn't get past the introduction to your new school and your fun school friends... :) I guess I am really tired of stories in a school setting. Like, really tired.

But I wanted to like it! I did like The Entrepreneur. Now I think I should give it another try, and see if perhaps the storytelling feels more engaging once the MC gets past all the introductions.

Honestly for me Law School isn't a game I like or play for the story. I play it because I find the character really great to be around and fun and that is what makes me look forward to each update. Very few games I have a hard time deciding a favorite , I want to put about 1/2 of them as my #1 favorite.

it's something where you just don't question stuff and play it and you get a better experience

Yeah "School Setting" is a really hard sell for me at this point. There aren't many good school based games in general, the majority of them have all just been harem or harem-light, fuck fests. I think, for me to try a new one at this point it would have to be unrelated to the school - like the characters happen to be students but the story is about something else.

p.s. Also amnesia or anything to do with memory loss is an almost instant no for me. It's been overdone to death and generally - that's not how amnesia works. Most people with long-term amnesia never get their memories back at all, while people with short term amnesia usually get everything, or at least most of it, back within a few days.

It's a good game. It tends to take a long, long time between updates but it's very well written. There are many moving parts - lots of characters with their own agendas, personalities and alliances. And the Dev is very upfront that it is about the story, and the characters, not about the sex. On many of the paths there is no sex yet, or if there is it's once and it's soft-core (not visible genitalia). Also - when you see how many paths there are, you'll understand why it updates slowly. Fortunately the Dev caught on after a few updates and reduced a dozen major branches down to four but even with that - I just did two playthroughs, with the same Li and slightly different choices and I've seen (apparently) 20% of the available content. So it's a game you'll be able to replay a lot and find new things every time.
Tides of Succession dev has abandoned it. He’s finishing university and plans to abandon his career to become a full time AVN dev and is going to make a college dating sim.

yep it called Tides of becoming this is what i saw
New Project - Tides of Becoming:
Tides of Becoming (ToB) will be a character driven, slice-of-life AVN set in the fictional Grace Isle University. Purpose and values are key themes which will be present in ToB, and as the player, you'll be able to determine the MC's values which will in turn, determine his purpose. There will be 5 Love Interests, each with their own ending (there will also be 3 "solo" endings, so 8 in total).

Might take a look at it when it’s finished, maybe. The dev has abandoned his last two projects and I’m sick of college based slice of life stories. I just skip over them without looking at the description at this point.

I wonder what career he gave up to do AVNs full time. That's a hard road to make a living on.

Tlaero
Don’t know, he hasn’t said - just that he was in his final year of school and preparing to graduate.
