Has the game been abandoned?
In short :
- The first and original developer left.
- The game was abandoned.
- Two new developers took over the game.
- What happens next ?

Good TLDR. Now we wait for next step.In short :
- The first and original developer left.
- The game was abandoned.
- Two new developers took over the game.

Soon and a new itch page aswell. But as for everything it's best to join the discord then always getting secondary information here. You can also ask the new devs anything you might wanna know there.Do the new devs have a Patreon or something? I figure if we want this game to actually continue they will need to get support of some kind.
That’s great news ! It looks like the project is coming together. Have the new developers made a roadmap for the game yet ? When can we expect more info ?Soon and a new itch page aswell. it's actually the opposite, since chapter 11 it kept getting worse and worsethe story was starting to get better and was really looking forward to the next update.

they should let the game rest, taking over the project that is already well established is most likely incentivized by money.1.Why?I've now read the Discord post allegedly from him. I can parse it a few different ways (and why certain countries make 'making VNs' hard, but VPNs exist), but... Hmm.
2. What time frame are we talking about? These "new devs" seem to have appeared quite quickly - last time I looked at this, it was active (less than 5 months which in this game is practically a quasi-demi-tiny-blimp-WMV break). Are these Discord hangers on? Fresh faces? Known in the industry space?
3. In what fashion? How did they get control of the code / Patreon / $$$? Has the original dev posted about this? Same Patreon? etc etc.
4. Sus as fuck
I've not posted for a while, but this... doesn't resonate well. The original dev had passion (for instance, he went back and did a re-work of the original couple of chapters very quickly and completed it without even a six month Patreon milk), the project had been very well recieved and he was making proper money. In addition, he was obviously learning & improving as he worked his 1st project. The game had 4.5-5 stars across the board and a lot of us followed it.
Heck, one of his characters (the spider-girl) has featured in more than three other Adult VNs as cross-over nods! That's success as a first timer.
This flagged up my interest because attempting to find this (and Polyturnon) on itch.io was... difficult. Impossibly so given the numbers they were both doing. Now I find out the "why" on this one (i.e. they don't have his itch.io account). Smells very bad.

Anyhow, Flynn974, if you ever read this: quite the splash you made. If you're ever feeling glum, know that you have talent & wish you the best. Very impressed, you made a lot of people horny & happy, which is spreading joy in the world. You did good, shined bright for a while there.

Couldn't have said it better.I'll try to answer point by point without repeating myself too much, and if I make any mistakes, AsTc3r can correct me. Flynn didn't leave because he was unable to continue developing his game due to legal issues or procedures related to any specific country. This has been mentioned many times already.
Apparently, a family member of his is seriously ill, and he himself was studying abroad. Between his financial situation and the pressure of managing both his game and his studies, it became impossible for him to handle the new and difficult circumstances. So, I think you're way off the mark on that part.
Flynn left for personal reasons that were significant enough to motivate his departure. He seemed a bit shaken in his message, and that should be enough for us. It’s his private life. In any case, he won’t be coming back; he made it clear that his departure is final.
I don’t know the exact timeline between Flynn’s announcement and the arrival of the new developers, and honestly, I don’t think that’s all that relevant here. What I do know is that the Discord moderators took charge for a while after the developer left.
They spoke with Flynn right before his departure, and Flynn himself made sure that all the necessary files and resources were handed over to them, so anyone willing to take over the project would have everything they needed. After that, the moderators must have sifted through the spontaneous applications that appeared on Stray Incubus' Discord server.
I don't have much information about the two new developers, peggy1303 and Ischwhit. The moderators likely saw them as serious and motivated candidates to continue the project according to Flynn's wishes.
That, at least, is their judgment. I don’t have insider knowledge—I'm sure these moderators have more details. Flynn closed all his accounts and/or deleted their content when he left (for Patreon and Itch.io), so this question doesn't even come up. A simple check of the OP in this thread would have answered that.
The moderator AsTc3r made an announcement here on this thread that the new devs will likely open a new Patreon account dedicated to Stray Incubus, and that more information will probably be available later.
At this point, I don't see anything suspicious. Two fans of the game came forward to take over, and whether they appeared earlier or later wouldn’t have changed anything in my opinion.
I think you're jumping to conclusions with suspicions, making sweeping accusations, and coming up with some far-fetched theories. There’s no conspiracy, and no harmful project here—nothing supports that idea, at least for now.
I can understand the doubts and apprehensions one might feel in the face of a somewhat bewildering new situation. However, be careful not to say anything without basis and, at a minimum, take the time to search for answers among the available sources (this thread, Stray Incubus' Discord, for example).
Given that all the names mentioned are just random Users (presumably all from the same Discord), most with low engagement and the amount of times Discord related skull-buggery goes down (e.g. another popular game here recently, in a quite serious manner), I'm giving some side-eye at this time. Perhaps I'm just jaded by "my girlfriend from Canada is working as PR for me now" but throwing about terms such as "conspiracy theory" shows a distinct lack of self-awareness of how the majority of us view Discord (essentially a void of drama-llama teenagers).
From the outside we have "here's the teasers for the new chapter" (with original content attached) and then a sudden change of ownership and a marked change in quality. And yes, I did spot the post asking why all the models had suddenly gone loli heavy in the new content (search: "five years younger"), with a lot more side-eye attached.
So: new authors who seem to want to push the loli & have lower writing skills. That's a pass.
For me, a tag such as "Discontinued" would be better than "Abandoned" (since abandoned has negative shade on the Dev, mostly well earnt). Shame. Wishing Flynn974 well whatever happens.
spectulation about any dev. is just that any how and pointless until or unless any work is actually put up, but people love to talk.Given that all the names mentioned are just random Users (presumably all from the same Discord), most with low engagement and the amount of times Discord related skull-buggery goes down (e.g. another popular game here recently, in a quite serious manner), I'm giving some side-eye at this time. I agree with you. It makes more sense to wait and see if the new developers produce something, instead of jumping to conclusions with wild theories.spectulation about any dev. is just that any how and pointless until or unless any work is actually put up, but people love to talk.
