It's sad, that great, much greater than average, visuals (models, posing, textures, effects) are being wasted on horrendous middle-school grade level of storytelling: bam-bam, pew-pew, plap-plap, repeat.

Soon and a new itch page aswell. But as for everything it's best to join the discord then always getting secondary information here. You can also ask the new devs anything you might wanna know there.
That’s great news ! It looks like the project is coming together. Have the new developers made a roadmap for the game yet ? When can we expect more info ?

P.S. : For those new to this thread, please take a moment to scroll through the previous pages to catch up. This will help avoid endlessly repeating the same info to everyone. Thanks for your understanding.

In short :

  1. The first and original developer left.
  2. The game was abandoned.
  3. Two new developers took over the game.
  4. What happens next ?
1. Why? I've now read the Discord post allegedly from him. I can parse it a few different ways (and why certain countries make 'making VNs' hard, but VPNs exist), but... Hmm.
2. What time frame are we talking about? These "new devs" seem to have appeared quite quickly - last time I looked at this, it was active (less than 5 months which in this game is practically a quasi-demi-tiny-blimp-WMV break). Are these Discord hangers on? Fresh faces? Known in the industry space?
3. In what fashion? How did they get control of the code / Patreon / $$$? Has the original dev posted about this? Same Patreon? etc etc.
4. Sus as fuck

I've not posted for a while, but this... doesn't resonate well. The original dev had passion (for instance, he went back and did a re-work of the original couple of chapters very quickly and completed it without even a six month Patreon milk), the project had been very well recieved and he was making proper money. In addition, he was obviously learning & improving as he worked his 1st project. The game had 4.5-5 stars across the board and a lot of us followed it.

Heck, one of his characters (the spider-girl) has featured in more than three other Adult VNs as cross-over nods! That's success as a first timer.

This flagged up my interest because attempting to find this (and Polyturnon) on itch.io was... difficult. Impossibly so given the numbers they were both doing. Now I find out the "why" on this one (i.e. they don't have his itch.io account). Smells very bad.

~

Anyhow, Flynn974, if you ever read this: quite the splash you made. If you're ever feeling glum, know that you have talent & wish you the best. Very impressed, you made a lot of people horny & happy, which is spreading joy in the world. You did good, shined bright for a while there.

they should let the game rest, taking over the project that is already well established is most likely incentivized by money.

I'll try to answer point by point without repeating myself too much, and if I make any mistakes, AsTc3r can correct me. Flynn didn't leave because he was unable to continue developing his game due to legal issues or procedures related to any specific country. This has been mentioned many times already.

Apparently, a family member of his is seriously ill, and he himself was studying abroad. Between his financial situation and the pressure of managing both his game and his studies, it became impossible for him to handle the new and difficult personal circumstances. So, I think you're way off the mark on that part.

Flynn left for personal reasons that were significant enough to motivate his departure. He seemed a bit shaken in his last message, and that should be enough for us. It’s his private life. In any case, he won’t be coming back; he made it clear that his departure is final.

I don’t know the exact timeline between Flynn’s announcement and the arrival of the new developers, and honestly, I don’t think that’s all that relevant here. What I do know is that the Discord moderators took charge for a while after the developer left.

They spoke with Flynn right before his departure, and Flynn himself made sure that all the necessary files and resources were handed over to them, so anyone willing to take over the project would have everything they needed. After that, the moderators must have sifted through the spontaneous applications that appeared on Stray Incubus' Discord server.

I don't have much information about the two new developers, peggy1303 and Ischwhit. The moderators likely saw them as serious and motivated candidates to continue the project according to Flynn's wishes.

That, at least, is their judgment. I don’t have insider knowledge—I'm sure these moderators have more details. Flynn closed all his accounts and/or deleted their content when he left (for Patreon and Itch.io), so your point is irrelevant here. A simple check of the OP in this thread would have answered that (the links are still available).

The moderator AsTc3r made an announcement here on this thread that the new devs will likely open a new Patreon account dedicated to Stray Incubus, and that more information will probably be available later.

At this point, I don't see anything suspicious. Two fans of the game came forward to take over, and whether they appeared earlier or later wouldn’t have changed anything in my opinion.

I think you're jumping to conclusions with suspicions, making sweeping accusations, and coming up with some far-fetched theories. There’s no conspiracy, and no harmful or dubious project here—nothing supports that idea, at least for now.

I can understand the doubts and apprehensions one might feel in the face of a somewhat bewildering new situation. However, be careful not to say anything without basis and, at a minimum, take the time to search for answers among the available sources (this thread, Stray Incubus' Discord, for example).

Given that all the names mentioned are just random Users (presumably all from the same Discord), most with low engagement and the amount of times Discord related skull-buggery goes down (e.g. another popular game here recently, in a quite serious manner), I'm giving some side-eye at this time. Perhaps I'm just jaded by "my girlfriend from Canada is working as PR for me now" but throwing about terms such as "conspiracy theory" shows a distinct lack of self-awareness of how the majority of us view Discord (essentially a void of drama-llama teenagers).

From the outside we have "here's the teasers for the new chapter" (with original content attached) and then a sudden change of ownership and a marked change in quality. And yes, I did spot the post asking why all the models had suddenly gone loli heavy in the new content (search: "five years younger"), with a lot more side-eye attached.

So: new authors who seem to want to push the loli & have lower writing skills. That's a pass.

For me, a tag such as "Discontinued" would be better than "Abandoned" (since abandoned has negative shade on the Dev, mostly well earnt). Shame. Wishing Flynn974 well whatever happens.

Yes, the people mentioned indeed come from the same Discord server, the official server of Stray Incubus founded by Flynn. At the risk of disappointing you, we’re all potentially someone’s random user, and that includes you ! x)

I’m not sure why you feel the need to adopt a condescending tone towards people you don’t know, dismissing them simply because they’re on Discord. This platform is just a tool for communication, and what people do with it is their responsibility. It doesn’t really relate to the subject of our discussion or the purpose of this thread.

Everyone needs a social space and an official channel to communicate about the game — that’s its purpose. I also don’t really understand how your personal experience with Discord ties into the subject at hand.
It seems like you’ve got some unresolved issues with people you’ve encountered on this platform simply because they’re sharing their lives or they rub you the wrong way.

I get your point about teenage drama, but it’s a bit off-topic. Not everyone on Discord is in that age group, and whether it’s drama or not, that’s just the nature of the internet and social media in general — you’re likely to run into it everywhere.

I’m sorry if the term “conspiracy theory” offended you in relation to your post, but there are a few aspects that make it seem that way. For example, the negative tone of your message, the suggestion that something was abnormal or suspicious about the events or the intentions of the new developers (a biased, random opinion in context), and unsubstantiated accusations regarding what they might do or have done to the game.

You also made several off-topic statements that seemed disconnected from reliable sources, especially in some cases, you may have misunderstood those that came your way too.

Be cautious when presenting things as universal truth. You’ve shared “your vision” of Discord, but even though it might be shared by some, it’s not representative of the whole community, as seen by the continued use of the platform. Its success is also an element of evidence.
Also, the “ Us ” you used is more like “ I ” here — it’s ultimately your personal opinion and value judgment, not a universally accepted truth.

That said, your joke about the “girlfriend working PR in Canada” did make me laugh, though only because there are so many jokes about this country and its people, mostly Quebec, from a French perspective (I’m French).

Regarding the quality change you’re referring to for Stray Incubus, I’m not sure what you mean. The latest renders shared on Flynn’s Patreon before it closed seemed fine to me. If you’re talking about the pictures taken with a phone by the user who posted them on the thread, that’s understandable.

However, if you’re referring to the fan renders by imadumb in this thread, those are unrelated to Flynn’s work. Still, the quality is pretty good, though obviously different from what the original dev produced.

As for the change of ownership and the reasons behind Flynn’s departure have been explained at least a thousand times in this thread. We’re literally going in circles. Everything has already been said, including screenshots from Flynn himself and indirectly from AsTc3r, who shared excerpts of private conversations. Announcements about the change of developers were made here and on the game’s Discord by AsTc3r, who has been handling these matters.

I’m also not sure why you think the game has become “loli heavy”. Sure, there are some characters with a more young look, but it’s fairly moderate and within the site’s guidelines. Moreover, the game doesn’t even have a “loli” tag in the OP, so unless something’s changed, this debate seems a bit off-topic.

As for the rest, those are personal opinions of yours that don’t really belong here. There’s an Off-Topic section on the site for discussions that extend beyond the main game thread. On a personal note, I also don’t condone such content, especially when it crosses legal or moral boundaries. I’ll leave it at that.

Regarding the “abandoned” tag placed by the site staff, it corresponds to their definitions and rules. If an official statement has been made, or if the dev hasn’t released any meaningful updates for over a year or two (I’m not sure of the exact time frame set by the moderators), the tag is applied.

Here, the game received the “abandoned” tag because the developer issued a message that was considered official on his Discord, and it was later probably confirmed by his moderators.

Edit : For reference, I’ve linked a screenshot from Zareem, who graciously shared some render previews from Flynn’s Patreon before the account was deleted. These are renders teasing the update Flynn was working on before he stopped everything on the game.

spectulation about any dev. is just that any how and pointless until or unless any work is actually put up, but people love to talk.
