Anyone reckon this game will ever allow you to add animated content to it for the characters? Like animated profile pics, or body images? Either by uploading gif or mp4s? Asking because there's a game called Brothel King that will let you upload just about anything to the characters' profile, even multiple, and even has a method for pulling images/videos in accordance with the scene, and while I don't expect this game to upend its code to allow for such specific use cases as that, I really wish a mod or something would allow you to upload gif/mp4s. Preferably mp4s or something else that has high quality and low file size.

I only say this because I have gotten into using AI on my own system for making nsfw loop animations and while I'm far from perfect with them (there's the typical noticeable imperfections if you're looking for them) I would say A: Most of the imperfections are not noticeable when you're just glancing at them as you navigate menus or interact with the game, and B: I think animated content makes the game feel a lot more alive. Especially when you create a framework whereby people can upload the content themselves and allow for imagepacks and what not to bypass the expectation for devs themselves to create it.

For an example of what I'm talking about, here's a still image that I took from the artist Jack Cayless / Rapscallion and used AI on my own hardware to animate. It's not perfect but I think it's neat that a complete bozo like me can go from still image to this:
The short answer: probably.
The long answer: The game is made in Godot which means the ability of the engine to use some form of media is limited as of now. Not because of actual technical inability but due to the fact that Godot is open source. This means any kind of royalty claiming tech feature is kept out of the regular development of the engine. Things like mp4 for example have still licences attached to them that would require hoops and loops incorporate that. This extends to a lot of other media as well and is the main reason there is no 'native' support for them in the core engine. There are developments out there you can add in your project but that is up to each developer and their ability to juggle the legal aspects following with that.

This is flabbergasting information. Your reply spurred me to look into it and wow, I had no idea that was even a thing. Up until now I had falsely assumed that gif, mp4, webm, etc. were all just file types that were developed over the years and that some were adopted for various reasons/uses and that was the end of it. I wasn't aware that companies like MPEG LA owned mp4 and that there were licenses and what not. Having now read an explanation on how that came to be I sorta get it, but yikes. I wouldn't have previously thought that was necessary for something like this. I wonder if that also applies to all the other formats or if it's only some of them (not that another google search later couldn't answer that question for me.) I kinda just spat out mp4 because the quality and file size led me to start using that format when my software generated content.

Thank you for the detailed response. You learn something new every day.

There is an actual but generally speaking: ffmpeg is the main tool used around the world for media conversion etc. Even Google for YouTube uses this. So most media could be used after some 'simple' conversions for example. Godot has native support for the ogg format btw. As of which formats have licenses: have a look at about them and the licensing. Mozilla basically has/had the same issues as Godot
