Aw, I like how you're encouraging him here, good on you. Honestly, taking a look at that patreon, it probably wouldn't be an issue. He'd probably have to make a significant amount of money for it to be worth taking any legal action, and it doesn't look like that'll happen soon. Who knows though, this could be a hidden gem developed in record time that starts his erotic-game production career.Okay seems we all getting too hyped about the topic......and clearly you take what people saying here in the negative way rather than take it as a criticism for better.
Feel free to disregard what people talk about your game and the content of it but don't be surprised if later on you will meet with some real issues from wider public on the finished product if things stays as is......
No, that doesn't necessarily follow. "If it offends your moral standard" means it might not offend someone's moral standard, not that they're immoral if it doesn't. Nit-picking here, but if I'm not allowed to think pirating images on a pirating site is funny, you're not allowed to laugh at that. XD"Don't play the game, don't support the game if it offends your moral standard." - soooo....were you saying people who play and support your game don't have moral standard?? Somehow its funny really.....
Whoa, dude, take it easy. Listen, if you want to develop naughty games, and by extension put yourself out there in the public eye, you need to understand that things like this are going to happen to you. There are going to be people who speak out against any kind of art, and if enough people know you, there are going to be people who don't like you.A
Okay, after reading all these similar posts, I suppose I should address this... concern(?). Maybe the perks for money can be misconstrued as selling something. I think that's a fair point, so I've removed them. But to be frank, I don't understand the moral outrage. These hcgs float in the web by the masses. 99% of these eroges never get translated or marketed to the west. And don't pretend people here are paying money to look at hentai images or even play hentai games. It's a huge waste of assets, and I see it as a good chance to make something of it. It's a free game. Donations are optional. I'm not selling anything. People can play regardless of what happens to my patreon. Piracy, theft, whatever you want to call it. I just see it as utility. If this violates forum rules or whatnot, I'll take the game down immediately.
If it offends your moral standard, don't play the game, don't support the game. But it's getting kind of ridiculous when people are pretending they're this great patron of porn games and hentai images. The robin hoods of hentai. You people probably have never spent a dime on any porn, which is normal and completely fine, but this high horse cock stroking is getting absolutely silly.
But you do make an interesting point. So basically people are fine with stealing other people's work as long as no one profits monetarily. But if I make a completely new, free game with the exception of 10 pirated images, then it's a great moral concern... but only because of the fact that I asked for donations. I wonder if you people were equally disconcerted when piratebay & co. started accepting donations or running ads on their sites. More needless bullshit to fuss over to those that do.
Well, people are always free to stroke their cocks in a way that is morally palatable. Especially if it makes them get off harder (that's what we're all here for, after all).
Like, basically everyone with any significant number of views on youtube gets death threats. Most of them don't lose any sleep over it, because the world is full of trolls, and people who legitimately want to kill you don't generally announce they're coming in advance. Most people. Fuck you Anita Sarkeesian...
For one thing, plenty of people here do spend money on porn, I don't think that's a fair statement at all. For another, an outburst like that doesn't make you look any better. You're a dev, put your game face on. I've seen a few devs around here openly talked trash about their projects to, and they usually come off as the nicest, most reasonable people.
Say something like "The best thing about this corn-crusted turd is that it's over eventually," and they'll come back with something like "Glad you got some enjoyment out of it, thanks for the feedback!" And we tend to like these people, even if we know they're probably pissed, and putting on a fake PR mask.
And here, people aren't even really criticizing your work, they're bringing valid concerns to you attention. Real talk, if you're going to blow up and come back with biting sarcasm when shit like this happens, especially when you're admittedly in the wrong (based on the changes you made to your patreon), you are not cut out to be a dev, because this shit is gonna happen to you all the time. And I'm not speaking as a dev here, just as an artistic type, so maybe I'm talking out of my ass, but I feel actual devs would back me up here.
Like, find a friend to vent to, geez. Game devs get abused, that's a widely know fact in the industry; you knew what you were signing up for!
And on your point about the assets not being used outside of their country, being wasted... I mean, they're not wasted, they're used in Japanese games. I dunno man, I feel like that's like saying it's okay to steal a penny. It's just a penny, nobody is gonna use it anyway. And then that line of logic makes a slippery slope, and you end up in Office Space.
Maybe that's a bad example, but the gist is where does it end, and how far does it go if you're allowed to keep getting away with it?
Also, pirate bay's been shut down a few times, and someone else doing something doesn't mean its okay.
