What is ES? Interesting how you put it,mysterious and somewhat psychological like those movies,i wonder if you will make it as good as you gave me the impression here.

Idk man,i get what your trying to do or plan to but Aeolos feels like one of those anime protagonists that are hugely overpowered and beat legendary or super strong characters the first time around just because he is the protagonist. Talk no Jutsu comes to mind:

In my opinion Aeolos is special or overpowered for those reasons:
-he goes toe to toe with the duchess,yes he is just defending until others arrive but still he shouldnt be able to survive her,this implies Aeolos is close to if not at her level,a duchess of a succubi clan,and you claim he is just a normal human.
I dont like the execution of that said choice,like to to the "god of gifts" to help you against the duchess and her hoard,which seems the most logical and not pulled out of your ass kind of thing,since its downright impossible that Aeolos and his gang would be able to take said horde on their own which is over-hyped plus the duchess so early on.
I liked the "god of gifts" arc and the incubus's character plus all the story we got,the 2 succubuses appeared again and it was believable,funny as you claim realism is your goal.


-He fights alot of succubuses,many times without pause,most of them are leaf the weakest true but he fights a beast and a arachnid succubus both are said to be much stronger than the leaf plus the lover/second in command of the duchess.Here it might be because of gameplay and story segregation but it feels overpowered,like he is one man army and even strong for hunter standards,the sucubi he encounters also dont seem afraid of him at all which means that the average avalon hunter isnt nearly as strong as him.

-the way Kain,the angels and others talk to him makes it sound like he is part of a prophesy or special in some way,understandable since the protagonist most of the time has to be special to make the players happy and engaged but if it is the case dont claim otherwise,its ok.

-He kills a very old and experienced witch or 3 demon hunters like its nothing,he beats the chief and shaman of the broken jaw(?) or what is their name,he defeats his mirror self in the trial and overall gives the chosen one vibes.

-he kills a assasin succubus that is part of the elite at the end of chapter 4 by himself with no apparent effort,others are impressed by this.

I could go on but you get the point,its my personal take but he seems like a chosen one.

Its interesting what you said about a succubus contract,you didnt mention before she has to kill someone,can you tell us more about the ritual and how it goes? Can a man sign a contract with a succubus?

Take for example Guts, from berserk. His entire life was dedicated to overcoming odds that would kill any other man. Same as Aeolos did, recruited very young and trained by Kain and the other hunters for 10 years. Brutal training.
Does that make Guts special? Not for me. It makes him a survivalist that has been training more than others since birth and overcame every single challenge using all he could.

In fact, I could compare Aeolos fight against the Duchess with Guts vs Zodd for the first time. He couldn't win, he could just hold his ground until help arrived.
And Aeolos is forever scarred by that encounter with the Duchess if you choose the hunter's side. That scar and poison screwed his health, something that he'll probably have to carry out for the rest of his life.

Also, the real danger of the succubi are not their individual powers, but their numbers. Individually, you can imagine a succubus as a mage. The higher the rank, the more powerful the mage. But get past the magic and in close combat and they fall rather quickly.
It's the "Glass Canon" build. Extremely deadly, but easy to kill.
Aeolos does that exactly that with his relics.
When angels fight succubi they quickly dispatch them, and those who can't, are overwhelmed by numbers. Which, again, is the true strength of the the succubi. Like a zombie horde.
I never intended for succubi to be like indestructible goddesses, but powerful mages with limited mana.
PS: The Void Clan are not succubi. Might look like one, but they are not.

-When Damia was defeated, she had her power drastically reduced due to her aged state. That's why she activated the guardians there, to avoid confrontation. If you side with her, she greatly recovers the power lost to her age.

That was a dancer at the end of chapter 4. There are 2 factions of the Shadow Knife clan:
-Mountain tigers: ninjas extremely skilled in combat
-Desert Vipers: dancers who seduce and plan traps, but who have zero combat skills.
Aeolos defeated a Desert Viper, not a Mountain Tiger.

-Aeolos is treated well by the angels and his fellow hunters. That might be it. They like to make him feel like home there in Adalon. There is no prophecy for him there. His welcome there. That's it. They do that with all other hunters.

-Yep, a man can make a contract with a succubus to gain forbidden knowledge. He becomes a sorcerer. They don't gain the bodily transformation that a witch has, though, like being able to drain vitality to rejuvenate themselves.

-The ritual is a kid/innocent person is sacrificed in a altar where when the soul tries to escape the body, it's eaten by the succubus, sealing the deal. It's the only time where a non royal clan can feed on a soul.

It's a bug in that prologue that will be fixed in the next release. Once you reach the beach, start the game again while skipping the prologue and you will be able to save.

Yep, but the void clan were just foot soldiers that managed to get dragged into the new universe and became "goddesses" by elimination, since their masters were locked out of it and still inhabiting the previous universe.

Unless they became more powerful when arriving to the new universe, I shudder to think what did these 'foot soldiers' served...

You can probably turn this into game mechanic, Zion...Of course, the spotters that you hire will likely die and you can only hire one at increasingly absurd rate.

That scene would be hot as hell. While tactically it would make sense to kill the succubus first but if the group cared about their friend I could see them trying to force her off her food as soon as possible. I could also see this scene being played out with his lover trying to protect him from the powerful she demon.

Zion, hope you are doing well during these difficult times. A few questions:
1. Is there anything that can be done to the succubi? When they get killed, they only start all the way back to level 1, then what's the point? Won't their numbers only increase drastically overtime until they beat humans and Angels in terms of total population?
2. What about Angels? They are smaller in number, but can anything be done to increase their numbers? Do Angels die or are they immortal as well?
3. In the game, are you implying that souls are immortal? That even if you kill the flesh, Human or not, then the souls will always exist? Would this not mean that succubi are a permanent problem?
4. How do succubi even revive or obtain a "body" when they are killed?
5. What happens to Human's when they die?

For obvious reasons, I know that you won't spoil things, but this game alone emphasizes what an immense advantage the antagonist has because of their charm, energy drain, semi-immortality (Even if you kill them, their souls will come back in time any way), and what's more other people can be turned into succubi.

It's a process that takes time, so angels fortify reconquered planets/dimensions and train humans (or native intelligent life) to defend it.

2-Angels are similar, they grow in numbers too, but each angel is worth 5 succubi at least. So even if their numbers grow 5X slower, the balance is kept.
Remember that heaven pulls good and neutral spirits while hell pulls evil and neutral ones.

3-Souls are immortal, but not indestructible. If a succubus eats a soul, it's destroyed.
Souls =/= Spirit. Souls are very small and need a body to be conscious. IT's what mortals have. Spirit are conscious entities without body, that when pull to heaven or hell will take form as a demon or as a divine.

4-Their bodies are actually their souls given form. Hell restores them to their form exactly like if they were taking form for the first time. It's Hell or Heaven that determines their appearance, and since Heaven and Hell are the corpse of Ascalon and Veridatha, there is no greater will to overwrite that.

No im not against him overcoming odds and no i havent watched beserk,i dont watch anime in general,still i think you have taken this way too personally,im not saying your story is flawed just that Aeolos doing so much by HIMSELF without any aid against succubi that are constantly advertized as very strong or legendary and he has such a easy time finish them off,maybe tone down that praising of the bosses if they will be easily destroyed? Or add some back up for the bosses maybe in a hard dificulty or special dificulty mode where bosses or even normal enemies are multiple at ones.
Seems like you have taken offense and now scramble to justify his acomplishments while keeping him "normal",lets face it Aeolos is not normal at all,if its not a prophesy (kind of hinted since he has started a legendary bloodline that lasts far into the future) or just plot armor,like every "anime protagonist" as they say.

The whole poison and scar thing is a welcome thing if it affects the story/gameplay at all,not just mentioned here and there and then forgotten,it needs to be impactful,one more reason why the incubus helping you is FAR more realistic and logic option and i will pick it 10/10 times.

I get what you mean by glass canon build but its kind of weird and doesnt quite add up,the succubi are far taller and weight more than the average human,im not sure how high and heavy Aeolos is but the succubi overpower him in many categories from magic to physical strenght,the only thing that somewhat justifies what you said is that most wear little armor or none at all but even so with all that magic,height,body weight they should be able to pin and overpower Aeolos and have the endurance to take more than a few swings of his sword,why dont they wear armor? Or use magic to make an aura of protection or something like that?

Im also having a hart time believing that higher ranked succubi like the spider,duchess and her second in command or the dancer dont have any close quarters skills,some succubi even have weapons,if anything the whole glass canon build of the succubi is weak for their standards but stronger and more durable than normal humans or even stronger humans barring legendary ones.
Angels ofcourse overwhelm succubi,as they are stronger by nature,although some games/stories make them equal in power or both strong in their own ways,why did you make angels stronger than succubi? Just curious about your idea.

Unless you say that Aeolos and other hunters are enhanced physically and mentally by angels i dont see how a normal human could challange even the weakest succubus physically,magically or mentally.

If Aeolos werent the protagonist he would have died by now,like the event about him escorting the red little hood and finding mid-sex that she is a succubus,that is how realistically he could have died,by not a whole plot or all powerful enemy but by a slight moment of self indulgance or innatention,even the whole succubus dancer and all members paralysed part was somewhat stupid but how come Aeolos isnt paralysed too? He is somewhat weaker and the fight kind of hard but he wins regardless.

MGQ protagonist Lukas has a more grounded feel,he is struggling alot and noticibly during the fight and story to fight the monsters,even the weakest of them and his victories are more believable using an artefact used by a legendary monster hunter (spoilers) even gets powered up near the end to further drive the point home that a normal human cant take monsters on his own.He also has alice supporting him and players will lose fight most of the time the first time they try it,unlike in SC where you just barge in,destroy them,refuse to elaborate and leave.


Im very interested to know more about sorcerers,the rituals, deals and so on. Will we ever get a game where we play as one of them or a succubus? Like a spin off where we play the "bad guys" to give a new perspective.

I knew that succubi do feed on souls even if they arent royals,its what they are originally know for,eating souls as the myths say,doesnt this mean that succubi are very aggresive in recruiting witches and others? To get as many souls as they can? How stronger does a soul make a succubus? Both this way and by soul drain?
