This is one of my favorite games for the charming cast of characters it has! Level Drain is also really hot, and the option to betray your companions and give your levels to the villain is something I'd love to see in more games. It warms the heart and it makes you diamonds, what is this if not a gem?

. I don't recall about those (since I usually just delete files that don't help me that much), possibly some Saves from the Dev or maybe bonus CGs or Artwork stuff. You can open the archives themselves to see what files are inside (the Text file's likely just some writing from the Dev, nothing that much to see there).
Indeed, this game's extremely hot, and also with a decent gameplay loop. In fact, if you liked it, I'd recommend tryin' at least Succubus Tower 2 from this Circle Group, then the other newer games from them, too!

I did play that too! I think I've played most games with "Succubus" in the title... But I also like how this circle writes the companion characters in particular.

Yea, this circle has a certain charm to its games and characters....
There might be a few outlier games that still have Level Drain mechanics, but without Succubus directly in the title. An example at the top of my head would be "Domination Desire: Banished", another hot game to try out, although with quite a different feel from the games of Circle-Tequa (western game and all that).
Is there a first game? Sorry, I don't want to sift through comments and already tried looking it up.

Best place to look is usually the group's store on dlsite or wherever they have it, finding characters from the second game is also another way to narrow it down.

The previous commenter gave you the outline on how to check past games from the same Circle Group (for future reference), but to give a direct answer: There is, both in the "series" of Succubus Tamer (the 1st game doesn't have connecting story to this one), from the same circle group (they do have past games).
If you wish to play a previous game from them, but on the same type of general Polish, I'd recommend Succubus Tower 2 (the very previous game to this), which is the other polished VX game they made. The ones before those are a bit more rough-around-the-edges by comparison, the one other that I could recommend (but with less overall content) would be Ririsubaru, this one:
