It's been a little while since the last bit of lore and/or storyline information was dropped on here, so I'm here to change that.
Today I want to focus on a few things that connect back to the original game. Some of it could be called retcon, but it all should connect seamlessly. The story of The Second Semester takes place a period of time after the first game with flashbacks to before the first game. I don't want to say how long specifically because that's going to be a really cool part of the story that gets revealed to you during the course of the game. There's a bunch of mysteries like that I have scattered around for Serena to unravel.
I mentioned before about that ring Serena put on before she was transported to the other world in the original game. Inside that ring was a crystal. Many of the things that affect the two worlds and Serena herself have to do with crystals. Remember the grand sage or whatever that bastard was called in the original game? He was trying to collect crystals to gain more power over the world. There are various types of the crystals and they all do various things. Hypnotic effects, dream walking, teleportation, and much more.
Let's talk a little about Eve, the succubus who "changed" Serena into a succubus. Eve was in possession of a couple different crystals. One of them allowed her to channel her powers through Serena, the other allowed her to dream walk into Serena's mind. Eve started off trapped in some void, using Serena to build her power up to escape that void. The more she used Serena, who could travel between worlds, the more it connected her to the power to travel out of the void. We didn't really get into how Eve ended up in the void and the ending of the original game kinda just left her ass sitting in the floor with Serena saying "I'll chain her to the wall later."
Before anyone comes out of the woodwork to say Eve was chained up to the wall in Succulence 2 let me take a moment to clarify that Succulence 2 does not exist and nothing that was set up there affects what will happen in The Second Semester. Some concepts may carry over to a sequel, but that sequel will have its own newly crafted storyline with an actual fleshed out explorable other world. That's a separate subject though, back to where we were...
Let's talk about the hypnosis machine from the OG. The A-hole head of the science club (the guy Serena made have recurring crippling tentacle trauma from just mentioning her name) had encountered our Mister Brown, which we've mentioned before. Mister Brown is the person responsible for putting those other world portals in our world and he used them to basically screw with humans as a pastime or hobby. He'll be very active in the set up for a few of Serena's more ridiculous encounters. He's a major pain in the ass, but not the main villain of this installment. I have a very satisfying and hilarious end for his behavior planned for after this installment, something that would tie in to a television news report.
