Actually it is. We've had preview renders in devlogs every two weeks, so there's no silence from the dev, and no lack of previews. The abandoned tag is due to no update in 18 months since the last game update - just read the site rules.

There are other games where the DEv basically is radio silent and the game dont get updates and no abandoned tag... double standards all the way, on patreon and f95 too i guess.

So if he were to keep publishing dev reports twice a month for the next 5 years without actually releasing an update the tag still wouldn't be warranted? How about 10 years? By that logic he could do it for the rest of his life and this title would still be considered in development here on F95.

Everyone has their own opinion on when the abandoned tag should be added but that's shitty logic. Even if an update is coming next year, I'd argue this tag comes late. It's been a year and a half since the last update was released. And keep in mind that last update did not progress the story in any way, it only had a reworked scene. So technically you could argue it's been well over 2 years without an actual update.

Hot take, rule about abandoned status due to long waiting is peak braindead administration. Just rules for rules, no life improvement whatsoever. Dev should be contacted about such a stuff and only when game is truly abandoned by developer, put such a status in here. Otherwise it's pointless.

I would not say its pointless, if at least 20~30% of all the usual whiners and haters ignore the thread and forget about the game, its already a big WIN.

Its F95 rules, they don't care if a creator made any updates on Patreon or Discord or whatever, if OP post hasn't been updated in a while in this thread then it can get the abandoned tag after a while. This doesn't necessarily mean the game is actually abandoned. This happens quite often with games that have a release once a year or more.

Does anyone know if Ocean has ever mentioned if they have the whole story or part of it already written? Or is it more like Ocean writes the story and dialogues as it goes?

Just curious, as much as I like this VN, the odds aren't favorable in terms of ever seeing the end of it, so I was wondering if Ocean ever mentioned something like that, if they already got the whole story down and they're just creating the visual aspect of it, then I wonder if there'll be any possibilities in the distant future to buy the whole story as a novel itself. I'm an avid reader, so I wouldn't mind if the format itself is not a full professional novel, but more like a bunch of notes and observations as of how the story will go and end.

Regardless of what ends up becoming of this novel, I do want to see or know the end of it, the delivered format not being as important.
