Unfortunately, you're right, it's all hypocrisy and deception. Look at the beginning of his message, and I quote:
This is a passion project. I don't view them as customers. Otherwise, SG would already have a ton of sex scenes.
If everything were as he said, he wouldn't have reworked the game and lowered its rating to attract new Steam customers and make more money. His words don't match his actions.

Summer's gone and been abandoned. What is it this time, is Oceanlab remaking the game again like he did for his last one?
I discovered this dev and his games on f95, then purchased them on steam, then subscribed to ocean for a brief period of time.
but this thread , this very state of things, is the reason why , I always tick "completed" when I look for a game in here from now on. He's literally the guy that disgusted me from unfinished projects. tired of the alpha - pre alpha - devlog - demo - version 0.0.0.0111 bullshit, Which f95 is LITTERED with (understandably so , it's not a jab at other devs, it's just not my jam anymore ). not playing nor purchasing , until it's completed or very close to completion.
sure I have much much MUCH less choice, sure I'm missing on some bangers, but considering how I loved SG, I LOVED the art, and I loved the character building. but got frustrated with the "soon" promise, it's a slap in the face. I'm sure i'm not the only one with that mindset now.

No, those who have been here for a long time don't really care anymore, we just read those who come here like to a wailing wall and pour out how they don't like the ocean, etc. Sometimes they write funny things, but most of the time it's the same thing.
It's always funny reading all these sh*t talks just to see them disappear at the time the update is released. If the guy was taking around a year to release a 2k renders-long update, how long did you guys think it would take him to produce 8k one? Furthermore, this time there will be some proper routing too whereas in the previous updates there were very little route-related scenes. On top of all that, the guy has dedicated his entire free time to the game development just to be kicked out of the platform that was his only regular source of outcome.
Considering all that, we will be lucky to see a new update before the end of March and guess what will happen then? All the smartpants in this thread will download it from this site, play it for free and then will wait another few months to talk about Ocean taking too long with the next update...

Why the fuck is he remaking the game in 8k renders? Just do it in 2k like normal and then re-do it when it's finished. Ocean always does this.

The 'k' means thousand. It's 2000 and 8000 renders, not 2K and 8K as image resolution.
Ocean isn't reworking anything in 8K renders. He is doing a 8000 renders long chapter.

heck a lot of succesful vns are in 1080p and are selling 10 times what he sold on steam ( i believe it was Helping the Hotties which had 1080p and 4k version as payware DLC, or maybe College kings 2 if i remember correctly or both .

anyway , some creatives are brilliant but need management. I see it everywhere all the time. Ocean is one of those. It's visceral, they can't help it, they're shit at planning, because the act of creation has more value than the finished product in their mind. time is irrelevant to them. they forget the purpose of what they're doing when they're creating a product that needs to be sold.
I've seen that in countless departments. Visual creators are admittedly the worst in my experience . and it's often the most talented ironically.
You let creatives run amok in a company, they bankrupt it. maybe if he hired a project manager as a consultant he could ship a complete product by 2032.
