Why do I feel like this game is in low resolution on my computer? It looks better in the pictures in this thread.

Here, it’s not about the computer at all . There isn’t currently a game on the market that I couldn’t run on high settings. I just don’t understand why this particular game looks a bit pixelated, maybe I configured something incorrectly.

Attached is the same image from the original season 1 PC version of the game (not a screenshot, but the original image from the game\images\Chapter1 folder), zipped to circumvent F95's seamless re-encoding to avif.
1920x1080px, jpeg 97% quality, no subsampling. Yours looks like from a heavily compressed version, full of jpeg compression artifacts.
You didn't happen to download a compressed version of the game, did you? You did get it from the download links on the OP of this thread or Steam?
Should be a 9.64 GiB (10.35GB) zip archive named SummersGone_Season1_Steam-pc_UPDATED.zip Anything less and it's not the original.

Here's from the beginning of the thread. Could it be because I have a 21:9 monitor with a 2k resolution (3440x1440)? But that shouldn't be the cause, as the game already renders in 16:9 with black bars.

Alright, I understand what happened now, your message gave me the right idea. I re-extracted the game and launched it again, and it looks much better. It turned out that the language pack I installed also contained a compressed version of the game, which overwrote my files. Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction.
