From what I can gather, it unfortunately seems like, because of DarkCookie's move to the new engine, which is apparently much harder to mod, it seems ImTransAndTiny will either have to give up, build upon the deprecated version of SS/create a standalone fork of SS for the mod, or build the mod from scratch for the new engine. It's a very difficult position to be in, to say the least.

To be honest, they could just be working on trying to port it over to the new version, which I'm sure would take a long time

They could at least tell us at least if its abandoned or not, or if they simply dont have the time anymore

We love your work, even at this state, I love the game and keep playing it as is, but I cant help but check here regularly for an update.
