About the progress tracker, wasnt it 74 recently,I am fairly sure it was so it seems dev did actually made progress.

Oh god its gonna be another 1-2 years before we see any Judith continent. And knowing this dev he probably wont even give us any good breeding/milking scenes with Judith in Diane's barn. I could cry I'm so depressed.
Can someone catch me up on what the tech update is supposed to be and why tf it's taking so long?

Originally just widescreen conversion and some QoL updates. They very quickly realized a couple things. One whole thing needed to be reposed and it was going to take more than a couple months like they figured. Two the rig system they'd used for posing the last few years isn't very user friendly. Three the code needed major surgery instead of their tried and true method of plastering it with band aids and hoping that'd magically fix the problems.
So Stray built a new rig system, so they had to re-export all 15k of the games assets, it turns out DC sucks at naming them and they have no clue where anything is. So they had to go through all 15k assets one by one to re-label them in a consistent manner, Oops DC was a lazy idiot who half assed a ton of assets and they all needed to be fixed.
So once all that was done they started reposing the game, while Stray started major surgery on the codebase in essence this is now a full rebuild of the game.

The more I learn about Summertime Saga's development, the more I come to believe that you should never let the artist be in charge of development. Fuckin oof.

Well said, sums everything up perfectly. DC should have admitted that the Tech rework is gonna take a long time and that he will be making art on the side for the game until it's ready to be released as a massive update . You can only stretch/abuse the goodwill of fans for so long before the most ardent ones will turn on you.
From what's been said here he really didn't seem to know what it was going to entail at all. Just dreadful project management.
Tbh if I was him I woulda been putting out webcomic pages every 2 weeks or so featuring the Summertime characters to satiate the appetite of the patrons who feel they're missing out on sex scenes

After playing recently i have to agree. I've never laughed so hard within character dialog whenever she's present or mentioned she's always accidently funny as an air head but she plots with the best of them. its the same way i perceive tony cause he's pretty funny in his dialog and plotting but can be serious when he wants to be.
aside from that Eve is indeed best girl
There is a reason I now base my "what to play" by sorting by "completed" only.

I've essentially written this game off, so anything new that comes along (whenever) will be a nice surprise, like finding a $20 bill in the winter coat you haven't worn in 8 months.
But I have to wonder if they wouldn't have been better off simply starting over completely from scratch instead of 'fixing' everything.

That's what they're doing essentially. It started relatively small scope but ended up becoming a full rebuild of the game because that was the only way to untangle the mess they've made.
