Holy fuck i wasn't following this thread for a long time now and thought hey let's play the last 1 or 2 updates or maybe there are even more but wtf almost a year since the last update that is fucking saddening.

Yeah any tech update, overhaul, remake of early chapters etc usually means death of a project here.
Not sure if "tech update" is just dev lingo for "I dont give a fuck anymore, going to Hawaii" or they just underestimate how hard actually remaking and making a good code is.

In most cases they probably underestimate the level of work needed. I'm probably projecting a bit, but I'd guess most devs remember the creative process itself as the hardest part of development, i.e. coming up with the story, writing dialogue, posing scenes, and so on. They don't remember the coding and other technical aspects being that difficult or taking up that much dev time, so they think it's a simple matter of taking existing assets and bringing them up to speed. They don't realize it was this neglect that led to the technical debt in the first place.
And once you start redoing work you suddenly realize all the little shortcuts you took the first time around that no longer work and also have to be redone. Far too late, you find yourself in a quicksand bog of remaking the entire game from scratch. Given the tone of the Patreon updates and the sheer length of time it's taken, I'd guess DC's team has had to throw out months of work and start over on at least two occasions by now.

i just think most people who played the game never really cared. not sure if this was worth the effort when dc could have worked on rhonda/annie/judith update art instead

That argument can be used in many ways. Is it worth the effort to create a proper day-, evening-, night cycle? Is it worth the effort to have MC's sprite actually hold every item he uses? Is it worth the effort to add cutscenes for important events? Is it worth the effort to create detailed backgrounds, when "something simple" would technically do? Etc.
Most people would say "no, just give me more scenes and quicker updates" but then you'll soon be left with a plain and rather medicore game.

the situation kinda changed with the tech update taking 2 years and no end in sight. the day/night cycle was worth it because it was integral to the gameplay loop and big updates were still coming at least 3 times a year
Would you trade in the bad mini-games (Sewer crawl, Basketball, target practice etc) for more H-scenes?
Hate how the mom has taken a back seat in the development for, what, 2-3 years now?

There are a lot of people that play this game on android so the tech update for that reason alone is worth it for a lot of the supporters. The problem here is that, what they want to do is way too ambitious for such a small team and DC also sucks at management. All the little details of the mc holding every item and shit like that makes the game better but when you only have one dude doing all that art, then the progress gets really slow. Posing also becomes a nightmare when you have so many art assets like items, facial expressions, body poses etc.

Yep. Her and Jenny got a ton of scenes.
The real abandoned one is Judith.
I am bias, and wouldn't mind more Roxy scenes tho.

Judith is going to be the last girl who's going to get a full storyline and sex scenes similarly to Eve and Roxxy. Call me crazy but I think that once the tech update drops, the rest of the updates will follow quickly for the rest of the characters.
