I don't really care how you label it, your gamer language analogy falls completely apart when those sidequests make up 95% of the content.
If you're just here playing the contrarian to entertain yourself then fair enough. There's not much to do in the new update and judging from previous experiences it'll take years before it gets back to where it was content-wise. So you may as well shitpost to get a rise out of people.

I lost nothing in the past 8 years this game existed. no money. no time. and PAID SUBSCRIBERS VOTED FOR THIS TECH UPDATE. SO THEY DID ASK FOR IT. AND HE STREAMED THE ENTIRE PROCESS, so this is the subscribers own doing. Fuck em. Be careful what you wish for and stop voting for stupid shit. Hindsight 20/20 I doubt anyone would have voted for this knowing what was actually going to be wrought. I would argue that the streams kind of obfuscated the actual progress or lack there of that was actually making. I think he screwed over all the fans regardless of supporter status.
To add to this, This is the same kind of crap Peter Molyneux pulled with Godus, lots of promises, very little in the way of deliverables. Deceived lots of people, myself included.

How much or how little of it you enjoyed isn't an argument for (temporarily) removing almost all of it. Likewise, how much or how little anyone spent on it doesn't excuse the state of the game after 8 years.
I'm genuinely not sure what you're trying to argue here.
As for being mad, I doubt anyone in here really is. The update was shit, although even worse than expected, so it's more fun to bitch about it than to replay what little content there is. A few days from now everyone will have moved on and we'll all reconvene in two months, when the next thoroughly disappointing update drops, to bitch about it some more.

Bad comparison. People weren't 'deceived' they were too lazy to ask follow-up questions.
"Hey do you guys want us to do a tech update to improve load times and make things smoother?"
"Sure sounds great."
Follow that up with a simple question like, "What will happen to all the current content? Will you have to re-do everything?"
and then you'd get a proper answer.
I came two days later to see how this thread was evolving and i still read people complaining. Meanwhile it seems that the darkcookie patreon count is better than ever, i find this both funny and enlightening.
I'll concede your point, deceived was the wrong word. Given half truths? Any reasonable person would have expected at least parity with the way things were before hand, given the length of time, or at least a buggy mess that halfway resembles it. To me this just says "we allowed you to support us and put on a good show (via streams) but have very little to actually show for it."

My point is it's likely people didn't even value the content when it was there considering the people that paid for it (when they voted for more) kept voting for the same 20% of content. So the fact that most of the content people were uninterrested in disappeared but thats one of the main hooks to your argument seems weird to me. Why do you care? But also, to undo and redraw EVERYTHING is going to look like, well... THIS. This is why most of these porn games, Hollywood movies, and TV shows are in 3d. Drawn shit takes WAY too long to make. There's nothing out of the ordinary with this kind of set-up and the probability of greed being the main driver is low in my opinion for the above reasons.
But as for your 2nd paragraph, thats my point. you're pretending to be assmad and your reason is because its fun. Can't argue with that dude. It took a really long time and we kinda have to start from scratch cuz thats what happens when a person who has never coded before makes a game with massive feature creep.

By that logic development of the game could've stopped 6 years ago and there's no need for further updates cause everything you assume people ever cared about is already there. The only possible improvement would be to discard the rest of the game and start a spin-off focusing exclusively on those 20% of content, whatever they may be.
It's a bit of a non-argument and we both know it, but that's fine since we're just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point.
I didn't pretend to be assmad, the most I can muster is some level of surprise that the tech update turned out to be significantly worse than even the most rabid doomsayers predicted.
As for starting from scratch, wasn't that what the tech update was supposed to do 2 years ago? I thought that was the whole excuse for all the lack of new content in the meantime.
Be that as it may, you seem to find my faux outrage as amusing as I find your willingness to defend even the most feeble excuses for underdelivering on the devs part.

They were not related to the MC back in 2017 in v0.15.0 when DC altered the script so that he could keep his Patreon account. Over 7 years, now, that has been the story.
