Why don't they test the game with placeholders again?
I'd guess because one wouldn't expect anybody who is just a little reasonable to go completely nuts over 4 or 5 additional days? I'm personally always surprised how some people can literally lose their shit over one or two weeks here and there when the whole development of this game will certainly last 4 or 5 years. I mean, it's not like DC is wasting his time, it's just coding and stuff which doesn't matter anyway in the overall time frame.

I mean, the update included a new character, 3 small quests, pregnancy and one sex scene. There are still quite a few games out there who'd call that a regular update.
All of which took two minutes and the sex scene was a copy paste.

Why don't they test the game with placeholders again?
Things can change quite drastically once final assets are added. For a team of amateurs, which DC's team most certainly is, it might more trouble for them than it's worth. Especially since they'd have to test the game all over again after implementing said final assets.

Most people count from the November update, not the December update since the December update was two minutes long.
The update was released november 23rd. Now lets count, December, January, February, March AND April. 5 Months. If somehow by May 23rd the update isn't released yet, then it will be 6 months.

Spoken like someone who doesn't understand programming. Having an engine that does some of the work for them does not take away the complexity and intricacies of programming.

0.17 was released on November 23rd. 5 months ago.

C++ is made to create any game. So when your [VN module engine] is ready, you'll just have to add pictures or animation, sounds and texts. And if you want to add interactive minigame, you just code it and included it as a complementary module.

As for the save management, when a new version is released, you can make new start point at any point of the game, or even keep only a part of the "previous made version of the game" 's save and reboot only the modded/new path ?

So you have to make an Game Engine from Scratch?

Why do people care about save compatibility ? Each update is on a new character or a rework of one so you can play the new content without completing other stuff ?

Because it's not as simple as that - You have to at least complete the first introductory bits. After that, certain events in a characters progression are tied to stats, which require grinding and on that note - when it comes to unlocking the gym, also some sidetracking. Others require money, which you gotta earn somehow. Just starting up the game and completing a character arc from start to finish is not gonna be possible if you don't do some sidetracking. Which is why people want save compatibility to just experience that from start to finish without doing side activities, which I understand.

On the other hand, the extremely long updates have the added benefit of me wanting to experience the game from start to finish anyways, so I don't mind it that much anyways.

The point of a cash cow is to milk it.

The fact people are angry about a pornographic game developer potentially procrastinating is hilarious.

Stop hating a man for making a living. If you're bored, google search -> videos never fails.

DC really can learn something from twist and man of the house developers.
Truly disappointed. They are collecting 50.000+ $ per month. so patrons have to give 250,000$ for one update?
Twist is 3d and has bigger story line. I don't understand why 30 min more game play has to take so long?

According to Dogeek, "early access release" as a patron counts as a few hours before everyone else and/or faster download servers... oh fuck off
That has been the case for more than a year now? They release it on their own servers for patreons and others have to wait until all the free hosters like mega, etc. are ready.

We're past the point of five full months and are entering the sixth month. Is it likely to hit six full months? No, but you can't fault people for being impatient. Especially when the last two updates were shit, and this next one is going to be a reworking of an old update. At the rate DC and company work, and having worked in game development I know how slow things can be so I'm not faulting them for it, it'll have been around a year without any truly new content by the time the update after this one hits.

There's a lot of "made up time" difference between 2D and 3D : 3D is way more faster than 2D (10 frame = 10 specifics 2D handmade picture)
But I agree, even for 2D, it's slow.

Oh yeah I forgot about the stats and grinding, makes more sense now
