They're basically rebuilding and redoing the code so that it's more straight forward and stable. It's necessary to stop weird crashes and will make it easier to use/play. It will not speed up dev time or add cooler animations. The "content" part of the game will remain mostly the same.

Well hoping it works out. So far every game on this site that did this "tech overhaul" ended up not succeeding and just wasted shitton of time and trust.

I enjoy the game. I love it. I finished the current content months ago now and I still go back to jerk it to some of those amazing scenes and scenarios. I guarantee you almost everyone else here does too. The reason why we all complain is the reason you've not been able to see yourself or fail to neglect because you see this as all just being toxic. It's because we love the game and we're passionate about it. We all want to see it do well, and of course, we want to see it finished.

That's all it is. We care about this game because we enjoy it, and so we're passionate about it. I've only been watching this game since earlier this year but after reading so many comments and seeing for myself, I've come to understand all these grievances towards the game.

I'm glad this thread has so many posts, even if most are complaints, because it shows how many people are so passionate about the game, how many people enjoy the game and how many people want it to succeed.

I have been on this forum for 6 years now, 5 on this account, and 1 on another one that I forgot the password to. I don't comment much because I don't feel the need to unless I have something constructive to say. If something "smells like shit" to you, you need to get your nose out your ass.

If you have constructive criticism of the game and ideas for improvement, you are more than welcome to share, but you will not convince me or anyone else with a brain that these tens of thousands of one sentence comments shitting on the devs or making absurd demands are from people that are passionate about anything other than being massive man-children having other people slave away day and night so they can have their 8th jerk off session of the day for free.

Just know that if you geniunely care about the quality of the game and your comments reflect that, I was not talking about you in my original post.

This has to be the most insufferable thread in the entire forum.
I know every popular game has it bad, but barely any have it this bad. Out of 3313 page on this thread, at least 3000 must be just people bitching, fighting, spreading misinformation and asking the same questions again and again without even bothering to go back a few pages, using the search function or just reading the op.
I come here every once in a while to check for updates or see some art, and every time I have to sift through pages of morons with worms where their brains should be, obssesed with a fucking porn game of all things, that they're not even paying for.

This thread is in desperate need of moderation, and maybe a seperate thread just for complaints, if people really want it, although I would recommend just going outside and doing something with your life, bc whether DC is the greatest game dev alive or a greedy psycopath has literally 0 effect on your life, especially you're not paying him. If you find the wait frustrating, just go away and do literally anything else.

Not really. The tech build doesn't bring anything new scene-wise. The 5 batches were only made to let Patrons pass time (with lewds) while waiting for the update. He coulda just made the tech build in 2 years and not do any snu-snu (people would riot, not by much more than now though)

Yes. It should theoretically also use less of your PC's RAM and boot up faster.

I have no idea where everyone is getting this nonsense from. They're not porting the code from BASIC to Assembly. It's Ren'Py. They're replacing the code that uses the old method with the new image layering method. This will reduce the image file sizes at the same resolution -- and then be immediately cancelled out by the switch from 1024x768 to 1920x1080. Nothing about what they're doing is going to reduce RAM usage or speed up startup time. You're expecting too much from this Tech Update!

Nor is the code laughably inefficient, with thousands of unneeded variables wasting memory. There's nothing wrong with it, other than having two ways of doing things coexisting. The Tech Update isn't going to fix the fundamental problems of Ren'Py games. It's just going to change the resolution and make it easier to make changes to old scenes. If you're hoping for more than that, you're going to be disappointed.

My bad I thought they were actually going through the code and optimizing it/redoing parts of it so it runs smoother as well as the aspect ratio change.

I'm sure they're optimizing the code, but don't expect much from that. They may save a few clock cycles here and there. They may reduce the memory profile by a kilobyte or two. The reason to do it would just be to make the code easier to maintain. There is no amount of optimization that they could do that would be noticeable to the user.

She is, but you'll be waiting a while. If we assume the Tech Update is done by the end of the year (hah!) and an average of 4-6 months to finish "normal" updates, you can expect to see Judith sometime around early- to mid-2024.
