So thinking of picking this up again, but I remember that each update would break the saves. Since it hasn't been updated in a long while, I assume I'm safe on that score... Right? Not getting into the conversation about if the creator is milking this game, has abandoned it or whatever.

Brother the game has not received a content update in 2+ years and you're out here asking for a SEQUEL?
Well to be fair, the game was "done" years ago. He just needed to wrap it up and start on a new game. His loyal followers would have continued to support him if he started fresh with new ideas and characters using in the same style.

I mean at the start DC was developing the game at a good pace, and it was one of the best games on this site in terms of having reliable and reasonably sized updates. Then the updates slowed down, then he started reworking some of his old art (which I don't think was necessary, cuz the old art really had its own charm and didn't deserve to get overwritten) and then the game development ground to a halt. I personally no longer even feel the need to download the game at this point - I know that there's not much, that I'd be interested in, going on.
Dude is making more than ~70k or more a month (most likely more than 100k), DC is legit a millionaire through this game, and from what I've seen his passion has not been there since 2-3 years ago, but this game is like hitting a jackpot and he has likely made more than 5-6 million USD over the years of development, so why stop (I wouldn't)? DC is literally the idol of a lot of those scam devs - he has proven that there's money in this market, and you just have to pull in people early with a good product. Most other games that had a lot of early hype and died down still get multiple thousands of dollars even though the dev only posts wallpapers now, with constantly broken promises on the "next release" - lots of simps and coomers here.

Half of that probably goes to taxes and Patreon fees, but still that's a lot for doing nothing. Don't know how people just keep the auto pay going. Suppose they don't look at what they put on the credit card. Shit, I check mine regularly to make sure someone isn't scamming my card.

According to graphtreon it's about 20000 people who are auto paying, subs never dropped below 23000. Nothing unusual to be honest, this game exists for 7 years now and this thread got 39.9M views, so probably every person on F95 (7M) viewed it at least once. Even if it's 1% subs from F95, DC got 70000 subs from F95 alone for 7 years. How many of them just forgot to cancel the sub? Who knows.

That's been my point about the 'support' forever. There's always going to be a number of subscribers who just......... forget to cancel. A certain amount of that is baked into the finances of a subscription model.

Which is why it won't even matter if this thread gets the Abandoned tag or not. He's still going to get money, and people in here will probably still get mad about it.

Yes, the only thing that can stop this is the Patreon page ban. Probably no one will bother looking up the Patreon rules that Summertime Saga is currently breaking, probably there are some.

Even though the majority of subs are on auto-pay, many people also sub and unsub on a monthly basis for whatever reason. I refuse to believe that they are all simps and believe that the current rate of development is worth estimated monthly earnings of $62K-$191K, they are probably new to the game.

Hmm, who knows?
And I don’t think he is actually breaking any Patreon rules. He isn't really violating his 'contract' with his patrons, nor is he skirting the line with off-site uncensor patches for totally not!incest games. The game is about as squeaky clean as it gets for Patreon releases.
And it's not like he's got a 'fake page' where he gets money for something he isn't doing. Because, well, he is doing art rather visibly.

He also doesn't have some absurdingly high tiers like some artists, who got shit like pay 100+ bucks twice a month.

So, yeah, no idea how anyone would be able to get him on Patreon.

I think since Patreon makes a ton of money off his fees they are probably lenient if they are aware of any rules he might be violating. As for new subscribers, I just don't see how anyone new to F95 would give him money after seeing this thread and realizing he isn't updating anything for years and is just collecting money for nothing? P.T. Barnum was a wise man, I suppose.

He probably draws in people from elsewhere. Ain't like F95 is the only place to talk porn games. Twitter for example. I think he's actually pretty active over there.

Finished vs completed. At this point I'll say it'll never be completed. He has no incentive to complete all the stated project goals considering his patreon still makes a lot cash with his current output.

However, it'll be finished once he officially abandons it or isn't around to work on it anymore. Yes, I'm a pessimist at this point.
If he doesn't follow through on his promises, he is literally scamming and grifting. Milking patrons.
