Given how Starfield turned out, expect TES 6 to be just as much of a lazy shitshow.
I said out, not better. ;P

There is another one with the arts teacher but thats all sadly.........WAIT , ASIDE FROM BATHROOM FUN , THIS VERSION HAS NO FURTHER CONTENT OF JUDITH? SUCH A SHAME
Is Starfield really that bad? I haven't played it yet, waiting on the creation kit to drop and giving moders time to work that modding magic, but is the vanilla content that bad?Given how Starfield turned out, expect TES 6 to be just as much of a lazy shitshow.
Yes, it's "that bad".Is Starfield really that bad? I haven't played it yet, waiting on the creation kit to drop and giving moders time to work that modding magic, but is the vanilla content that bad?
It ignores the strengths of Skyrim and shines a big light on the failings of their game engine. For example, it has lots of load screens, fetch quests that mean traveling through several load screens, giant empty areas with nothing to do and the plot while not bad isn't really above average either. Is Starfield really that bad? At this point I think a lot of folks would be okay if it came out in March because that meant it actually released.Oh, I have no base for saying this, but I feel like the tech update will be ready around March. Again. No basis for that statement. I'm actually quite interested in seeing if the tech update will come out before I finish all the prologue renders for my game. I'd like for this update to come out first if I'm being real, been waiting on new content like the rest of you good folk.
Looks like I'll definitely be waiting a bit before I try it out. I'm also not worried about paid mods because I'm not paying for mods. If that bitch isn't available on the nexus or whatever comparable source, fuck that mod. No offense to the creator, get your paper.I haven't played the last couple of non-technical updates, wanting to wait until after more technical updates had been done.
I sincerely hope we get the tech update in March like you guess, since that's not too far away, and fingers crossed the project will be in a state where they won't need to do more of them. At least, not large-scale ones anymore.
Normally I'd laugh at the prospect of a VN on Unreal Engine, but sadly they exist...ported to unreal
I dunno, I feel like it wouldn't be bad for this game since there is already a successful formula and literally nothing needs to change. You'd just be converting everything over from a 2d point and click game to a full world 3d game. All the game mechanics can stay the same and you could even keep the fast travel options from Ren'py for people that don't want to run around the new 3d world. Could you imagine this game in full 3d with interactive scenes? Shiiiiiit. Now, will we ever get that? Probably not. But DC has made more than enough money to work on that if this game ever got finished. Could probably milk that game into oblivion too. Not that I'm saying DC is milking this one...Normally I'd laugh at the prospect of a VN on Unreal Engine, but sadly they exist...
That'd be huge undertaking though.I dunno, I feel like it wouldn't be bad for this game since there is already a successful formula and literally nothing needs to change. You'd just be converting everything over from a 2d point and click game to a full world 3d game.
Funny, you say you're not saying that but I swear I can see you saying it at least twice...But DC has made more than enough money to work on that if this game ever got finished. Could probably milk that game into oblivion too. Not that I'm saying DC is milking this one...
Oh for sure. Would take some legit effort and I have no idea what would go into making a 3d world. Just saying it would be awesome. I get what you mean too tho. That'd be huge undertaking though.
Not to mention working with an engine and tools that they might not be familiar with, which would add extra time to development as they learn to use them.
At the same time, depending on the quality of the 3D world that you suggest, would make plenty of users unable to play the game at all, due to hardware requirements.
What I said about VNs on Unreal Engine, I was meaning your standard prerendered 2D art and world, just like as if it was in Ren'Py. Basically a pointless waste of something like Unreal Engine's capabilities.
Funny, you say you're not saying that but I swear I can see you saying it at least twice...
yep, the only thing Starfield was good at was wasting your time. The rest it did mediocre. Amalgamation of "popular" sci-fi game mechanics sprinkled into decades-old bethesda rpg formula to make perfectly boring whole. It's good fit for people who have too much free time, but don't wanna bother finding actual good games. Like space combat? Everspace 2 was pretty good. Exploring randomly generated worlds? No Man's Sky. Base-building and crafting? Satisfactory or Astroneers. The rest of fps-rpg part - I hear Fallout 4 have amazing conversion and mod packs already. Is Starfield really that bad? I think switching to Unreal should be done with some of those 3d model visual novels whose large amount of video sequences have long since exploded the size of their games way beyond what a visual novel has. We're talking like 20gig here. Might as well make it a 'real game' at that point.I dunno, I feel like it wouldn't be bad for this game since there is already a successful formula and literally nothing needs to change. This is what remained as of 27 November 73,856.does anyone know how much of the update is done or remaining? since the progress bar is indicative of nothing at this point
I've been thinking that way as well. Games are onjecrivey hard to make. The difficulty in producing a vn mostly comes from its animations and branching story. Assuming the animations are done (posing included) and the story is written, not much else should be left. The game has next to no audio. Minigames could be done by a competent coder in a week assuming they had all the art assets. It's not freaking cyberpunk or portal, it's a VN. No reason for it to take this long . Especially when using a commercial game engine.I was wondering where the updates were for this. "Tech" update, huh? And it's just visual novel with sandbox elements, it's not like we are talking about RTS here. With amount of money this makes on patreon, he could've hired whole team of programmers to rebuild it on GODOT with same assets easily.
Well, another title I won't get to see the end of. Makes me appreciate devs with proper production that actually finishes games(like The Architect), so much more.
Well the art needs to be posed too. Art, which should get mentioned, is all being redone for different size format (due to patron request).I've been thinking that way as well. Is DC just being lazy or a perfectionist? I'd settle for a comic at this point. Hell, I woud be thrilled for a comic.
