Again, that was his single best month. Not 80k ish for 12 months straight.I was not using hyperbole. but I could have misremembered.
80k/month = 960k/year.
I might have confused "almost a million" into "well over a million" in the years since I last checked his income.
unless... did he ever have any site other than patreon collecting money for this game? or was it just patreon?
Ok now im sure you are a troll.I don't really see that anybody is defending the result of the update to be honest.
I'm slightly cross about the fact, that that this topic went from being 95% useless to being 100% uesless. I couldn't find a single post which talks about the update. What are the changes beyond the first day in Jenny's story? Have there been any major bugs or does it really run as well, as it seems at first glance?
I'm actually starting to think that hardly anybody who is writing here has played the update in the first place...
Welcome to pretty much any update of the game. Even in the past it only had music in select places and not everywhere. And what little music there was has been removed (sans intro).am i the only one not having music? like, it has music when his father funeral scene, but after that it just door sound but entirely no music
It is the same game, don't know why DC wants to make other versions?Just wanted to make sure it was the same version
Well duh, that's stuff even I saw and I played like 20 to max. 30 min until I arrived at Jenny's first mingame.Ok now im sure you are a troll.
You missed all the posts of people complaining about the lack of sound, the terrible new art of Jenny, the horrendous new layout of the house, the Debbie old art?
yeah, even the town , another character house , is all empty like a ghost town, i spend half hour clicking everywhere but hardly see if there a way to progress the story bcs there's not many character that i could talk toWelcome to pretty much any update of the game. Even in the past it only had music in select places and not everywhere. And what little music there was has been removed (sans intro).
Not like any of the music wasn't the most boring elevator type music in the first place, but that's neither here nor there.
I noticed in the cookie jar that there was an option to pick sub/dom options for Jenny's scenes now, but why on Earth would I play through this turd more than once to unlock them? This isn't Mass Effect, and my enjoyment of reading through dialogue lines that are 99% identical to ones that I've played before to ferret out the tiny bits of change is limited at best. And from what small amount I saw when I tried to work up the effort to speed through you actually see less than you do on the dom route, since you wimp out of pushing Jenny to actually do the lewd scene.Well duh, that's stuff even I saw and I played like 20 to max. 30 min until I arrived at Jenny's first mingame.
It would have been nice if somebody had actually talked about the stories. After what I've read elsewhere it seems like Jenny's sub/dom branches have some more content, which at least I don't recall being there before, though I'm still not sure how much it actually is.
It's such a short update, yet there's so little actual information.
If someone would confim that nothing actually changed, that would at least mean I wouldn't have to play her story before DC adds something more...
There's a lot of truth to what you're saying here, and it's unfortunate that DC has gone this route.I noticed in the cookie jar that there was an option to pick sub/dom options for Jenny's scenes now, but why on Earth would I play through this turd more than once to unlock them? This isn't Mass Effect, and my enjoyment of reading through dialogue lines that are 99% identical to ones that I've played before to ferret out the tiny bits of change is limited at best. Also, I just tried to use a gallery unlocker to skip the whole wretched process and of course now it simply doesn't show options at all. Why isn't there a simple option to unlock the cookie jar like we had in the past, so us old-heads with low patience can see all the new changes in this preview version? People have already dug through the files and found art for new Jenny content (like the missionary scene in bed) that simply hasn't been implemented yet, so there's even less point in going through the game multiple times since the saves will undoubtedly break yet again in the next update. Just brilliant design all around.
It all speaks to a product that was rushed out the door to satisfy....something. I don't subscribe to the conspiracy theory that he did it to remove the "Abandoned" tag here, but it wouldn't be far-fetched to suggest that he wanted a nice juice to his stagnant Patreon sub count. The one consistent piece of evidence from Graphtreon is that releases = money, even a half-baked one.
Why? I was with you until this. I literally posted a graphtreon chart earlier this morning to show someone else they were mistaken on what DC had been earning and the claim his paid subscriber numbers were tanking "for years."it wouldn't be far-fetched to suggest that he wanted a nice juice to his stagnant Patreon sub count. I think he fully understands but he doesn't give a shit, overall. It's what he wants to make and he enjoys making and he has the mentality of "Fuck the haters." Which is exactly what we tell our kids when they have dreams and visions of what they want to do and become... and yet then we shit over all the people who do just that. He wants the branching stories. He wants the replay value. What I think he doesn't understand is that people aren't really all that interested in the branching stories where you have to replay a porn game, because they just want to race through the dialogue, get to the sex scenes, then move on to another game.
I should have been more specific when I said "stagnant", because I didn't mean "sagging". You need to look at the whole picture rather than the last year:Why? I was with you until this. His sub count has not been stagnant for over a year.... in fact in 2024, it was HIGHER than it was at the month just before the tech update began at the end of March 2021. It had been increasing since May 2023.

Again, I look like I'm defending DC when I am simply showing that what is being put forward in an argument is incorrect.
I do agree that even half baked releases do juice the numbers for developers. However, he didn't need to juice his numbers in any time in 2024 -- and the data bears this out.
Ultimately we'll have to see what kinda of branches we are going to get. I totally agree that they are way too similar and just aren't worth a replay. Which is why I was hoping, that they'd actually elaborate them, so more people could be happy with Jenny. Right now she's neither one or the other and neither those who really like MC's submissive parts nor those who want her to be a bit less bitchy (by dominating her more) will be statisfied. People like her, because she's supposed to be the sister and because she's hot, but as far as I see, that's about it. Only very few will actually care about her story, which is very different compared to Eve or Roxxy, for example.I noticed in the cookie jar that there was an option to pick sub/dom options for Jenny's scenes now, but why on Earth would I play through this turd more than once to unlock them? As far as I see it, branches are one of his core ideas. Some years ago he did promise to reduce/remove them, because so many people complained (which in return was my reason to stop giving him money back then, because I actually like them for the most part and I really wouldn't like let's say Mia's story with no options). But he did walk that decision back slowly over time and as such I do think he'll stick to them. What I think he doesn't understand is that people aren't really all that interested in the branching stories where you have to replay a porn game, because they just want to race through the dialogue, get to the sex scenes, then move on to another game.
To be fair, I think he will have known that before. Numbers on Patreon thrive on updates and each somewhat significant update will give a push. Which is why it was (financially) always a bad decision to not release anything for such a long time. In fact, I would have expected an actual significant drop, if not more. That it didn't happen is - as far as I see it - due to the fact that there are so few good alternatives out there. If the market was actually competitive, DC wouldn't have gotten away with it this esaily. That mark represents the last major storyline release. The difference between the graph to the left and the graph to the right is staggering. If Kompas Productions was a major company trading on the stock market, the shareholders would be calling for the CEO's head.
Well, there were quite a few who were indeed asking for some kind demo, and as such it's somewhat fair. I just think he should have framed/named it differently. Now we'll have to see, how the next updates actually go.It certainly wasn't done out of a serious notion that fans would appreciate it, because whatever hard work they've put in is clearly not on display.

If Kompas Productions was a major company trading on the stock market, the shareholders would be calling for the CEO's head. Assuming that the market for horny bois hasn't been saturated there's little reason to think he couldn't have continued on the trajectory he was on prior to March 2021 if he'd kept up with regular releases. That's a lot of lost potential income, and I think the realization (maybe caused by the "Abandoned" tag, maybe not) that he's spent the better part of three years treading water was what ultimately spurred this extremely unpolished release. It certainly wasn't done out of a serious notion that fans would appreciate it, because whatever hard work they've put in is clearly not on display.
No one pays for the game. It's a free game. Yes, there are subscribers - but they aren't subscribing to get a free game. Everyone gets it free straight from DC. Jesus fucking Christ, you're dense. And almost no one here on this site subscribes to DC (I don't --- never have and never will). This is a screenshot from Patreon as of today

Now 29529 paid subs equals if they are all dollar subs
$29,529 US Dollars per month
x12
$354,348.00
Let's say Patreon takes 20 percent
$283,478.40
That number is only if everyone is a $1 sub
More than likely this is higher.
Two years of doing nothing:
$566.956.80
And the cucks got nothing.
You get to pay for another year to get back to what you had.
Thank You you paid troll.I posted the full graphic earlier today... I have posted the graphic many times in this thread over the past 2 years.
No, the shareholders would not be calling for the CEO's head. It is obvious that many people here do not have the business acumen to interpret things. While the tech update has been a cluster fuck, it's purpose is to prepare the game for future profits, not current profits. The "company" as you would call it, can tread water while attempting to rework the product for a future release. As such, and as has been seen with the preview of the tech update, that what they intend is exactly what happened - an uptick (to record numbers) simply by releasing the preview.
He doesn't need the "potential income" you are referring to because at his current expenses of payroll, etc - he still brings in more each month than he puts out... remember that his staffing requirements were based on about $25k-$30k per month - and even before he turned of the $$$ public number, he was well above that number - making profits. Which is what a lot of the complaints here in this thread have been about "that he's pulling in all this money and not spending enough for the tech update to get done faster."
The whole "abandoned" tag excuse (and your maybe / maybe not hedging) makes NO sense - again, because the numbers had been climbing for the previous year back to previous highs and so he was under no rush to do anything because of some tag. And if you're a subscriber with access to the project's actual task list - it is easy to see that what was released as a preview was already stated as completed. But see, we don't see that shit here.... but Username7 has been posting these tasks off and on ... and if people bothered to look at them they would see this is the case.
This argument is tired and old and makes no logical or common sense. If people actually took a step back (or rolled back from their computer desk and pulled up their pants) it is easy to see that the caterwalling going on here is just a moving target of complaints simply because they can't get new content on their schedule and have to wait for what DC wants to release when he releases it.
I do think the was feeling some pressure from his team that they should release something to show they aren't simply fucking around - so that they can show they have been doing things. I do think that some very loyal subscribers offered advice that maybe they should release something to quell some of the discord chatter. I do think that DC thought people would be more impressed with what he envisioned was moving the product forward for mobile gamers (his biggest market who do subscribe and what is the fastest growing VN and gaming market on the world) and because it had taken so long, he thought the preview would satisfy some. AND, the huge jump in subscribers does kind of support his thoughts --- even with the pushback from people who have played this thing for years.
Because, again, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of new people who find his game every single day because there are 2/3 of a million new people on the internet every single day... he's not going to run out of a customer base.
So, again, pushing a false narrative means I am going to pushback on it and, as such, it looks like I am defending DC --- but as I have stated time and again on this site when people ask me why I bother:
I despise the spreading of misinformation (either unintentional or intentional) and/or willful ignorance.
No one pays for the game. It's a free game. Yes, there are subscribers - but they aren't subscribing to get a free game. Everyone gets it free straight from DC. Jesus fucking Christ, you're dense. And almost no one here on this site subscribes to DC (I don't --- never have and never will).
You making fun of subscribers here where people take games without subscribing or paying for them - whether they are free or not from the developer - is like going to a Mormon Church and making fun of all the drunks in the pews. And you keep coming back with the same nonsense over and over makes you look like the fool.
Again, your density shows you are unable to tread water. It still does not erase the fact he gladly takes this money and does nothing with it.
