They're 'remastering' the game to draw out the amount of time they can earn Patreon dollars with minimal amount of effort, not that a lot of effort was going into the game the past few years anyway.
Your question is kinda pointless though. We weren't anywhere near a full release even with the old version and the development pace was glacial despite this game making bank each month.
Now with the remaster of questionable necessity, we've basically lost years of development and are still at the same glacial pace. In all honesty, you'd do best to just never expect the game to finish and enjoy it for what it is now as it's unlikely to go very far beyond that anytime soon.
