All of this. Pretty much every other H-game I've ever played has a very ad hoc kind of feel; like it's someone who has never created a game before, but had this one idea. SS very much comes across as directed by a person who is a game developer 'in real life', who just happens to want to explore a kink and share his discoveries with the world.

That's certainly true. I guess some devs are simply really bad at writing conclusive and well though out storyboards (some games feel like they've been made by a 14 year old) while others focus a lot on H content, likely because they lack the "capacity" to introduce story. This next SS update kind of shows how much time/resources it takes to create all those quests/sidestories/dialogues/details and I guess the majority of devs - even the really capable ones - can't really afford to do that and instead focus mainly on the H content to not upset their patreons.

In the end Mrs. Johnson's update was called "Erik and Mrs. Johnson" aswell so it could just be to have a little connection to what will be included. In all honesty, I cannot sympathize with the angry incest fans. From what it looks like, most of them were only interested in the fact it's incest and not the actual characters. From what the past few pages are saying, DC's preserving the characters but changing the context. Like the characters don't even seem incensed by the incest. The sister's sexually frustrated since she hasn't fucked in years, the aunt likes long, hard dicks, and the mom's a bit of both.
