My honest opinion is DarkCookie hadn't the slightest idea what a tech update would actually look like in the grand scheme of things, but once you are years in, it's almost just a sunk-cost fallacy at a certain point.

I think he should have done as some devs do and if the technical limitations are being hit, you break the game up into multiple part exes. I know that kills some of the sandbox of the game, but it has to be better than remaking the game from the ground up. Oh well, here is where Dark Cookie is at and he is going to have to make some tough decisions.

I think old reviews should be removed, after 8 years, the devs trying to create a new game.

I think this game should receive the titles it deserves, some moderator should put the abandoned tag back, leave the title as Summertime Saga 0.20.16 and then create another thread with the name Summertime Saga Reboot version 0.1.0. or Summertime Reboot Saga.

Some people here dont seem to know why this tech update happend.

Its a attempt by DC to fix his broken game issues and to update the engine and have a larger screen.

Was this all worth the wait? NO. He should have finished the game how it was. People just want character routes finished and a end for the main story line.

For me it hurt the most seeing Mom debbie with 8 year old art and no pregnancy YET. While Jenny the devs little cunt princess has new art with a already finished story line with new art.

If he was going to do all this he could have atleast fully fixed Debbie I dont care she lost a vote on patreon 2000 years ago.

Conclusion DC has no clue what he is doing and does not want to hire extra help. This game is going nowhere.

They could have also used the 70k per month average income to pay someone 2-10k per month to code it independently, and focused on improving old scenes and making new ones.
Not against you here, but there is 0 justification for 2 years to make this... Which he made in a year before...

Just to dogpile a bit on top of similar points others have been making this weekend... according to the almighty Search Bar, I discovered this game in mid-2017 at ver 0.13. One of my new coworkers is a young woman just getting started in her professional life who is taking the bar exam this month to become a lawyer. In mid-2017 she had not yet started undergraduate college.

I wonder how much DC has made during that same period off of what has been his sole job for............ four years? Five years? He had to get the game to a point where it could attract 30,000 pledges a month (assuming the public faced numbers on his Patreon are accurate) - that's not small work, and kudos to him for it. But my god, man. Don't pretend that you're single-handedly trying to code the next AAA First Party open world adventure. Holy god man it's fucking Ren'Py.

friend, not even the creator of this game will know how to answer this question, there is no way that a reboot of the game would be easier to do, than implementing changes and reworks little by little in the game, no one expected anything from this "update" but certainly the Those who voted for this did not expect that they would run out of new content for the next 6 years (2 years to launch the reboot and another 4 years to get where it was)
