Hey, so I haven't really played this game despite seeing it over the years. From what I understand, in some older versions there was a lot of content, but in newer versions some stuff was taken out to be reworked? Does this mean no new content is being added and its just reworks or is there a mix?

I wanted to mainly ask which version has the most content? Should I download the before tech update or after? is there a specific mod that combines best of both worlds?

I liked some of the older versions of this but stopped after you got stupid shit like the Aunt / Cowgirl thing. Has the patron whale fishing niche stuff been toned back or toned up?

The latest version (all v21.0.0 at this time are previews - not a complete update), not all of the old content is in the preview. In fact, not much of the old content is in the preview.

If you are using a save from v0.20.16 or earlier, it is not compatible.

If you are using a save from any v21.0.0 up to wip.5258, it should be compatible in wip.5258.

The Assembly Hall is part of Ms. Dewitt's route, which is still a WIP (work in progress) - I don't think the Assembly Hall is accessible in v21.0.0.

The completed v21.0.0 is still many months, if not a year or more away. Every 2 months they do tweaks and update and/or add content and/or features. Next one is expected at the end of January and is focused on Debbie's art/route/story.

v21.0.0 does not have any translation packs. The code is rebuilt and the old volunteer community translation packs are not compatible. Also, not all the content has moved over from the old version, as well as dialogue being revised. Even if the translation packs could be used, they probably wouldn't work properly.

If you want to play with a translation pack, use v0.20.16.

To my understanding, this "tech update" is being rolled out in 2 month iterations? Does anyone know if the devs have ever mentioned a rough estimate on how many patches they intend to roll this entire tech update over or is it a more of "release as we go" kind of thing where they'll keep releasing these patches until the entire tech update is complete and released?

  1. That is the current plan, yes.
  2. The tech update was underway for three years (with 6 pre-tech content releases during the first 18 months, with simply monthly reports for the last of the three years) when it was decided to move over to a bimonthly release of what is completed to date. The first tech update preview release was the end of May 2024.
    1. There is no estimate. Estimates create false hope and expectations.
    2. It is release as they go, with as much or as little as they get accomplished every two months.

I tried the Before Tech 20.16 on my phone and it said that the app was not compatible with the most recent Android version, is there a way to solve this ? I was able to play the 21.1 version, but not the 20.16 :(

Currently the game has barely any content because everything has been removed to be "reworked"
If you wanna try the game out then definitely go for the pre tech version.

At Easter, they specifically updated the v0.20.16 apk for Android 14. Try downloading v0.20.16 directly from
