I used to support DC whan his game was just starting, but as more time passed and the money started rolling in he became more and more laid back in regards to his release schedule so i stoped. For the ammount of money he is getting he should be working 10 straight hours a day to roll out updates .Granted release is pending the animations but y6ou guys seem to forget the fact that it took him more than 4 months to complete the artwork. that would be animated.
Personally i do not condone his attitude in regards to releases but some ppl are diehard fans and they will support him regardless of what he does

The patrons decided on longer updates with more complete character routes. Also, the money you see on Patreon is not the final dollar given to... Four(?) people and what they do. The bottleneck being the art (there's only one artist who draws EVERYTHING) it basically doesn't matter what you give as that will not change the speed of production, which we don't see.

Also, no matter the production issues, we can't do anything. Hell, I haven't put a dime to him. What do you want me and us other Blue Balled pirates to do? It's a free game. Some pay for access, some pay to vent their frustrations, and some pay to show their support.

He streams pretty regularly himself working on new art, when he does supporters and followers have the chance of interacting with him directly, getting questions answered, making suggestions etc. So it's not a "nude stream" or whatever

I'm surprised he hasn't updated his goals to something better now that he's at $50k. What ideas would you have for 60k, 75k, 100k etc.?

I'm fairly certain he knows that there are no really easy achievable goals left. The only reasonable thing to speed up progress would be to hire a second artist and that hasn't really worked till now. Only after that hiring more coders, posers etc makes sense. So there'd be significant chance that he'd actually overpromise and I can understand that he doesn't want it. Right now ~25 are probably wants really needed and everything else is kind of a bonus.

Edit: I'd personally love to see a final, really professional voiceover for the whole game, once it's done, but that would probably require an insane amount of effort and money.

I've got a degree in animation, I work as an animator for an independent social media outlet, you have no bloody clue how animation works in this game or just in general, and it shows. Please just bitch about the slow updates in a general sense like everybody else on here, but in-betweening is not as simple as "combining images" not even close, so stop that please.

lol, buddy, you do realize that assembling a combination of 5-15 images in succession in renpy is incredibly basic. This isn't Maya or hell, even Blender is difficult to use comparatively to renpy.

Right, fair balls, didn't realize you were on about the literal stitching together of pre-made assets, thought you were on about the actual creation of the animation itself. My bad. I can absolutely second what you're saying...but we're talking about ren'py. I don't know how he actually does the animation, but doing it in a simple and easy way don't take more than...what, 3 days? And I'm being generous, counting that it's not his main job. As for now DC is still waiting and it's been 2 weeks.
If the animator it's taking so much time he may be an amateur at that, ot maybe a pro which it's using an extremely time-wasting process to do so (we don't need 60 fps to see MC fucking a girl). Either way, I think DC with 50k at month, can have someone who's better at it.

All good, I was just confused that you would say that's difficult. That "stitching" like you say, is actually all the "animator" has to do.

Oh god, please no. Voice acting in almost every game I've played is complete crap and adds more size to the download. Especially if he adds multiple language support. I hate downloading audio for a dozen languages I'll never use.

That said, game size etc. for the final version wouldn't be that much an issue, after all one would only download it once and they could of course simply do two versions, with or without audio or release the audio as seperate addon.

DC talked about in on stream in a similar way, just by the way. Not that he's against but it's just too expensive and he wouldn't want it done by amateurs. So yes, of course it won't happen but done really well it would be quite a unique feature.

Actually, depending on how the Ren'py engine works, it's not that simple. He couldn't just yank the audio files out of the game and upload it as the No-Audio version. The game would error out whenever that audio should play. So, he'd have to remove the audio files AND spend time adjusting the code to not call for that file to play for each and every instance of spoken dialogue.
