I also face the same problem, usually on the third or fourth attempt to open the game, it works and leaves the screen and the game starts, it hardly works the first time.

One problem is that at first start many things need to be compiled. During that time the app is unresponsive and Android power saving mechanisms may kick in. You may also want to disable that "feature" in the Android settings (battery, apps).
