Ok, so the pattern for the new development structure has been established. Release cadence is consistent, release content isn't. Must mean they're working from a central repository and enforcing a commit cut-off close to the end of the month. Remains to be seen if this will truly make development quicker than the v20.16 era, but it should make it functionally easier for the team to squirt out half-releases at a pace regular enough to stop the riots. I foresee a lot of "that's IT!?!?!??! nothingburger update lmao" in this thread future

The in game questlog initially does not show anything about the school teachers. you need to first talk to each one in the morning to make them appear in the questlog. thus if you just go by the questlog along you will miss some content in the latest version.

If there's one thing these chunk updates have shown... they did fuck all before them with their tech update.
At least nothing that would fill the time between that content gap.

I don't know if the dev is a mastermind for making a living off of remaking a game that's not even a decade old and taking an eternity for what is effectively 90% visual upgrades, or if his audience is just that foolish to keep throwing money at him despite the absolute snail's pace the remake is being made at.

Im gonna be honest, the roadmap is kinda useless at this point, like many mention they are not following it, every update is always something left aside, updates so far are always half done, if this latest update changelog is real, its sad and just a warning that more updates like that will happen on which you will see bare minimum, im still wondering where is the 80-90% tech update is, if they were working on if for 2-3years.

Some of us called this when this pre pre pre pre tech update release was announced,theres no way DC releases everything back in less than one year,is going to take more years for the full tech update release.

The roadmap is useless because they can change it. Like I suspected it's just PR to calm down patrons. Really they haven't increased their pace or gotten better at organizing at all.

Earliest tech update estimate would be 2026 but as they change the roadmap it might even be later.

It's funny because no matter what the final tech release is STS will be "a game that took over 10 years and millions of dollars to make" while looking like something 3 students make as a final year school project.

Sure, you can argue that the process of making the game is tied to said donations, and that development would likely stop if they halted now, but the fine print is still very much 'you donate him in his creative endeavour which has absono ETA of being finished'.

Yup that's the issue with pretty much all of the patreon games. Looking like it's a kickstarter but it's not. It's also not obvious to people at first glance and when you pitch projects like it's a kickstarter then fall back on the fine print (which is provided by Patron to be fair) it becomes a "gotcha" moment. It's more impactful if you're actually donating (like my dumb ass did) but even when you're not it's perfectly reasonable to look at that interaction from a 3rd POV and go "wow that guy is dumb for donating but fuck that other guy for pulling that shit". Nobody likes gotchas. But like you said they are also free to leave.
