. It's all still there and available, and has been for the past 45 months. It hasn't gone anywhere, yet. In fact, the APK was updated in around Easter of 2024 so that it is compatible for newer versions of Android.
If you want to play a preview of the tech update while it's being updated, converted, migrated and the like, then yes it is going to be awhile but... you can still download directly from the developer for free

The title you mention appears to have always been 100% paywalled by that developer - so while I don't agree with an argument that developers "milk," I can understand it why some would say that developer did/does milk because of the Patreon/Steam paywalling.
Summertime Saga has always been 100% free the 8+ years it has been on Patreon - to anyone who wants it, directly from the developer's website. Subscribers are not subscribing for access to the game (if they are, they are idiots for doing so for a game that everyone can get for free and is told by the developer the game is 100% free).
TL;DR: So, no, your comparison of Summertime Saga to that other title does not hold water simply for the fact of the differences in how the developers make their product available: Dark Cookie has provided his product free to the general public for 8+ years but the other developer paywalls their product from the general public.
