Your second paragraph ignores that the adult gaming market is very small and growing. As such, labor within it is highly priced (competitive from other markets) and DC has less leverage than what others think.

Then that's an even weaker argument. People mimic art styles all the time and it's not exactly like it needs to be perfect, we aren't exactly high art puritans around here.

He simply needs people to create art, there are countless people willing to do that for a paycheck, especially one from home. The only real problem I can see is reliability, someone who puts in the work and doesn't flake, but that;s something that's sorted with time.

I would go as far to say that if a vote was put up that most people wouldn't give a damn, in fact would be more than happy to have a different art style for scenes if it meant it came out faster.

Well, it's his project and if he decides that he wants to draw all the art himself, that's perfectly fine with me. Of course it's a job for him, but it's the same as with every actor, musician etc. They all decide what they want to do and what not and one won't force let's say Metallica to make a song with Justin Bieber just because they could possibly make some extra cash with that (it's a stupid example, but you get what I mean).

People are pretty much free to vote with their wallet and cancel their pledge if they don't like it, but nobody can force DC to accept something he doesn't like or want. That's in general the benefit of being self employed by the way...

I agree with the art notion but when the debate comes up between where art and porn is, SS clearly falls into the porn category. He might view it as art in his own mind but to the rest of the world it ain't.

He's also already hired other people. The fact he can't get someone to do basic layout and design simply to speed things up remains weird from a so called professional who has undoubtedly seen this process multiple times before on any project he's worked on. No art is made alone and he's already shown he knows this.

He's free to do it as he pleases but his continued insistence on slowing down progress on the product has gotten me to lose faith in his artistic endeavor and moved me into the he is milking it camp.

It's the same. Even if the incest subplot wins, the update will come in at least a year, since it's about 4 months per update. And after waiting for so long, all updates will be disappointing. Forget about this game. Don't expect something from this game and you'll not be dissapointed.

Problem with this game is, if you are receiving almost 52.000 $ per month for a certain task... would you like to finish that task as soon as possible? Or would you find any possible excuse for continuing doing that task for as long time as possible?

Right now, devs are giving patrons as less contents as possible in order of maintaining them hooked. Too much, and the game will be finished too soon. Too little, and patrons will piss off. It's a difficult balance.

Patrons of Summertime Saga, do you want better, bigger and more frequents updates? Stop pledging a month. If the devs see that the number of patrons and incomes have fallen a 15 or 20% in a month, they will get the message.

Well, they've recoded and re-drawn ALOT of their characters, replacing them with the new engine so that in future updates, you can load your save from a previous version. That is a very hard task to do indeed and takes alot of time.

The quality of the animated scenes as improved a lot also, if you compare the new scenes with the old ones you can clearly see the improvement. That being said the updade still feels very short.

I agree. I'm extremely disappointed to find that you don't get new scenes with other characters besides Diana. The last update (Roxxy's) had new scenes with new characters and also 4 of the teacher's scenes.

No, you missed both of mine. The artists have a certain autonomy that they lose when they work for someone else. DC, as someone who worked in the AAA gaming industry, would know full well about this. Further, the niche for adult games is very small. This has only really been growing for the past say... Three years with the growth of Patreon. What they give up is THEIR style to work on DC's which is fairly unique for him. Compare his work to others on Hentai Foundry, ULMF, or anywhere else. How many people make their own custom artstyle and apply it to a game? As I said, it's unique.

Second, you ignore the language barrier, how their process differs from the Patreon model, and conflate nonsense about moving there to the point being that Japan's style of business greatly clashes with the one we're seeing in front of us.

Let it go, man. This really isn't a fight worth having.

You don't need any old content, except for the first day of school, where you'll have to make Erik stand in for Kevin to train your strength to 2 and to talk to Eve to be able to visit the park at night and to get your charisma up to 5. After that you can play Diane's and Debbie's story and may ignore every bit of other old content.
