hey guys,

i'm having some trouble installing the v0.17.5: Incest Mod[v0.1.3][robertj] patch. i've downloaded the latest update on the main page, unzipped the patch and moved it over to the game folder. but each time i launch the game, i get a grey screen that says "An Exception has Occurred". tried multiple times but same thing.

any ideas or solutions? On PC. thanks.

If you are sure you installed everything correctly, my only guess is that your persistent data is not compatible. You should delete the "persistent" files in both the game/save and in the <app data>/<summertime saga> folder. This will clear the cookie jar as well.

Hey, I don't know if it's of any help to anyone, but I was stuck when trying to read Jenny's diary, I thought I did everything to make that option appear, but nothing worked, I even restarted several times just to try if doing characters in different order changed anything, then I randomly clicked on her PC at night, and the MC realized that he needed the password, and that unlocked the diary option. I don't know if it will help anyone, or if the bug happen to people even after that, but I thought I'll post it here anyway

No, everybody is going to stay. The only thing that happened is that DC removed/replaced some old scenes for Diane, and may replace some for Jenny/Debbie/Mrs. Johnson/Mia as well. Most of those are old 2 frame animations and DC wants to have more or less the same quality across the board, which means he has to redo them.

Well yes, if that's the problem they have right now, it could indeed be way worse. Growing "too fast" can be an issue but it's not excatly "failing".

Also, there are plenty of alternatives like setting paypal directlydirectly to your page, while losing around 3% of the income compared to the 10% patreon charges due to transactions. The mentality of "there's nothing better" is old and tired at this point.

That's not really an alternative though. Patreon provides a comprehensive platform where people can pledge within seconds, where creators can make an offer and where people can actually find stuff, where projects can grow etc. and right now there's no real alternative for small, growing projects which aren't popular, yet.

Else you have to understand that the whole "incest" thing happens because of for example Paypal and Stripe. Paypal and other payment processors don't want their service to be used to support incest, beastiality, "loli-content" etc. and that's why patreon cracked down on it. So there's a high chance that Paypal could deny payments to people like DC in case he wanted to use their service on his homepage. It's really important to see that the problems of the adult game community are different to those of some alt-rigth weirdos. In "our" case it's not patreon but pay/stripe/etc. who cause those problems.

It's no different to changing now though. If you change now and people don't move because patreon is still there, you are in the same position. There's really no need to abandon patreon as long as he's among the Top 5 creators and he said several times that he won't do it until there's a viable alternative.
Putting eggs in several baskets doesn't help right now, it's just additional work and that's it. I mean, it's not like he could bring the incest back anyway, as long as the game is on patreon.

Well, the reworks are necessary in more than one way. Hint: The rig system is needed for the game to stay as small as possible to stay viable for mobile uses, which grew significantly in the last year, it's needed for added flexibility later on, it finally provides one common art/animation standard, etc.

Else, DC said he talked about alternatives with his staff, but decided against it, for the reasons I mentioned. He wants to focus on the game and not bother with anything around it. If you don't agree with it, that's fine, but don't expect anything to change anytime soon.

PS: If your only source is some guy who was hurt by patreon and is now obviously obessed with them, you may reconsider a bit.

Incorrect: the problem is that this isn't an EXPLODING and INTERCONNECTED bussiness model. Overhead is insanely low (it's just text and pictures and letting links exist) but this isn't a site where you can a lot of top management or even lower guys just patroling the site. SV investors don't understand a bussiness model like this were all you need is twelve guys and couple of servers, and the knowledge you won't have the userbase size of snapchat or twitter.

It is. If patreopatreon goes under now DC will lose most if not all his income at once. If you have a couple other places and you lose your patreon then at least you'll have alternatives. And seeing how popular DC is he can make a different platform popular just by being there. Funny you say it'd be a waste of time to secure his income when he wastes time redoing sprites.

DC and his crew looked into changing platforms when they got hit with the incest ban, and found nothing reliable. If for some crazy reason Patreon shut down, then they would take the closest thing to reliable.
