It's quite normal in development of all games to make new builds almost daily for testing purposes, hence the numbering. The 5xxx part is more likely that they're on the 5th proper build since the remake. The x605 part is likely the fact that they have more than 600 builds on this development cycle. Every artist, writer and programmer who adds content has to make sure that whatever asset they're adding into game works, thus making a test build to check everything.

This is of course just a theory, i have by no means any insights into the actual development of Summertime Saga

Yes, they have ran 5,605 builds in the last 46 months (about 4 per day, on average).

This is my tin foil hat moment;
I reckon this started off as a game but it's got so big that it's turned into a money laundering scheme.
I'm pretty lenient I would say when it comes to development of games. However the amount of money that they are raking in for the amount that they're putting out is not adding up.

How much of the legacy content has been restored at this point? Have there been substantial new additions? I think I played through all available content ~2 years ago, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth redownloading or if I should wait longer.

To be honest, wait 5 years and maybe, just maybe DC will be 80% done. Just remember that DC took two years to update the game from Ver. 20.16 to 21.044 and that's only because this thread got the "abandoned" sign on it and updated the thread several hours later. Then complained about having to release an "incomplete" version of the update all because "people were complaining about me not updating."

Then complaining even more every time he "updates" which leads to the current predicament of where we are now. Congratulations, you are now caught up with the happenings.

1. The remainder of Debbie's content will be released in two more updates meaning four more months of Debbie
Debbie's pregnancy is not planned for the next but the one after

2. The next update after Debbie is done is planned to be given to Rhonda
For those that don't remember Rhonda is the black Sports girl

3. Currently, dark Cookie and The rest of the developers are playing around with the idea of hiring a second group of developers to work on Re-adding content while the main group focuses on making new content
It's presumed that this group would mainly consist of programmers and posers why Dark Cookie would still be doing all of the art

10 whole scenes in 2 months, is insane for a game that is still making like 35k a month. I've never seen a scammer as big as dark cookie in my whole life and people still support them! 2019 they were 80% done with the game, and put out a vote for what next, with the lie that they needed to do a small tech update (less than 3 months), it took 4 years and about 2.5 million in donations, but finally tech update 1 dropped and it removed .... 90% of the game. So darkcookie and his team milked almost 3 million from his fans and took away almost all of the game, and people still defend and support him, insane. for those who are going to say anything, I was a supporter from 2018 to 2021, i watched the whole tech update lies and scams take place in real time, they could have finished the game in 2019/2020 and started a new one with how big a team they had and how much mone they were making (at one point one of the top patreon accounts at 110k a month)
