At this rate it will take about a decade before DC adds all the old content back and then another decade before he adds all the updates for characters who have been sitting in limbo for several years now.

Just accept that the old version of the game is the closest thing to a completed game you'll get and move on.

With the amount of funding they have, and the amount of staff they have, and the amount of time they are spending, these updates are a complete joke.

For the time they've spent on the "tech update" so far, they could have redone the whole game over from the beginning from scratch, and gone on to finish all the plotlines, with time left over to start developing a whole new game.

Look for yourself. Decompile it and compare the code to another version. Check the amount of actual work done.

They should be embarrassed.

Honestly don't know what's sadder, The state of the game or the mob of goobers fighting tooth and nail to defend DC instead of admitting they're being swindled.
I'm sorry that you are being swindled, but I would say, in my humble opinion, that most people here, if not all, are NOT being swindled.
Disappointed, probably, but not swindled.

I don't understand anything about programming/games, could someone explain to me, in a way that a layman can understand, why it takes so long to do this engine "update", when the content is almost ready in the other one? Again, this is not my area, i just have this doubt.

35k subscribers, lets say only 5k are paying them with 5$ a month, thats 25k, 10k subs with 1$ thats a 10k, lets say 10k subs are giving them 3$, thats plus 30k, and lets not talk about the ones that are giving them 20$ a month. Cuz even if its 1k with 20$, thats 20k.

Do a full math, they are not taking lower than 100k a month.
So my first replay was locked and hidden.

Its not really an engine "update" its more a restructuring of the entire code base. The code DC wrote before the "update" was most likely a big pile of spaghetti code. Spaghetti code is exactly what your imagining a huge fuckin mess and it gets really hard to deal with it the bigger the project gets.

The reason its taking so long is really up in the air at this point. From my experience re structuring the whole code base is a pain in the ass and can take quite a while.

Think about it like building a house. You need to have a blueprint of what your making, you need to know what material your going to need, how much of it, where to find it and how to get it where it needs to be. Your gonna need clean the lot and compact the ground, put in a foundation and all that. What DC did before was just grab all he could an through it together. Since hes an artist it was basically a really good looking house with a shitty infrastructure.

Added support for multi-asset cutscenes to easier include dynamic details such as pregnancy.
that is pretty nice. in the pre reboot you had to wait until none of the girls were pregnant to progress a quest.
but now i can for example do mom quest with a pregnant sister, and she just appears pregnant in the cutscenes.
