The code was made by someone else and it was literally dog shit. If he kept it and add thing, it would break the game so he had to redo it.

I know nothing about code. With the money he made off of SS so far, you'd think he'd hire some help to at least get the game close to where it was.

I don't know, but I recall that more than one people said that the code was crap. For what I know, DC don't want to hire more people and want to have only a small team.

Several people who have written mods for the original version of the game have confirmed the code was shit. Including the modder who created the Naughty Tribute Mod and the one who created the Small Penis Humiliation Mod. And then there is this from the guy who is the creator of the Relation Tweaker Mod:

The tech update has been a monumental task for the team, and it was completely necessary.

The original game was barely held together by a patchwork of spaghetti code from different coders and experience.

Hell, I started working on my mod for the 0.20.16 version, and just clicking through the dialogue would slow/lag if I wasn't extremely careful with my programming. Just poorly optimized, with very little overhead.

The tech update however, is just on another level.
Most of the released work till now is under the hood stuff, that sadly goes unappreciated.
It's definitely not just swapping to 16x9 backgrounds with the devs mostly sitting on their asses.

Thanks for the info. Seems plausible. Still sucks to wait so long, and I haven't even had to wait as long as other people have been. I am excited for it to be finished (someday) and I will definitely buy it when it does come out. Innocent Witches was my first WEG and it was a real disappoint content-wise. Summertime Saga was my second one and I had a lot of fun with it.

Good to know. Hopefully they finish Summertime Saga soon with all the experience they have gotten from the whole process. Even though it's been a long road and the end isn't in sight, I would definitely like DC to make more games (hopefully a little faster)

Not going to happen.

DC plans on adding content to this for a very long time to come once the tech update is completed. Currently there are about 100 NPCs in Summertime Saga, he has seriously stated he would like to get over 200, 300 NPCs in it. It's going to be many many years. And no, not any faster.

I will keep hoping hopelessly for faster dev time.
Sounds almost like he is aiming for an open world game in scope, which would be cool as well.

I personally think, all the 'old girls' (so Debbie, Diane, Mia ect) will be ones that require more updates, since they actually need more work than the likes of Roxxy and Eve. Their routes weren't actually what I would call fleshed out compared to the latter two. And it's not just the art that gets updated here unlike the naysayers like to claim. Debbie's entire story got an overhaul, which you can expect for Mia for sure (maybe less so for Diane, but I also can't really think of anything to add to her plot).

Why hand someone over when DC can just stretch art to 4/8/16k until his kids graduate from college?
In a couple years, the only thing left in the game will be a pizza delivery mini-game and cheat menu

3 of the 5 "original" teachers have recently had the rework they are going to get for a very long time. Dewitt's rework is still WIP due to Eve's storyline intermingling. Coach Bridget Krüger's storyline still needs explored.

Other faculty:

You are correct on their art. But they got some storyline and some other scene rework for v21.0.0 - and that's all they are going to get for a very long time, unless DC, Sploosh, Stray have said something different in the Picarto streams.

No, they haven't. DC just reimplemented their whole storylines, art, h-scenes just like they were for 20.16. There are no changes.
