Except there is no pretence nor has there been one for over 8 years. DC has been quite clear that there is no "end" in sight - he has said over and over he'll keep developing as long as he had ideas and continues to enjoy creating for the game and fans keep wanting more.
So who is the butt of your cheap joke?
Then what was the point of you saying that he doesn't intend to end development "in the near future" specifically? Please don't tell me you did not realize how this would be interpreted.

Did you read the person's post I responded to? If you do, you see the context in why I responded the way I did.
No one should expect this ever to be finished. Not in the way they might consider what finished is. People should think of this like "The Simpsons" and "South Park" - content being added and tweaks being done for as long as DC wants.

No matter how you try to spin it now, you were responding to the claim the game will never be done with "they won't complete it shortly, it will take many years" which is still effectively claiming that they actually intend to complete it at some point. I.e. the opposite on how you try to present your stance now.
Or to put it differently, if you now say that both yours and the developer's stance was always "no one should expect this ever to be finished" and not "they will finish it eventually, for real" then why did you bother to effectively repeat what a person you replied to was stating in the first place?

I'm not going to keep going in circles with you. You went for a cheap joke you thought actually meant something when in reality you only reaffirmed what has been known and said in this thread for years whenever someone asks if this will ever be finished.

DC doesn't want to end this game. He enjoys what he is doing. Why would anyone want to stop doing what they enjoy doing? Is this such a hard concept for people to know?
Like I've said for quite awhile - think of this like an adult game concept patterned off "The Simpsons" for the past 35 years. As long as they enjoy doing it, as long as they have ideas for content, as long as their are fans asking for more... they are going to just keep adding more and more and more while revamping the artwork over the years.
No, DC has no plans to "complete" or "finish" Summertime Saga. He has stated such for at least 8 years. He will keep going as long as he enjoys it, as long as he has ideas, as long as fans want more content... etcetera etcetera etcetera.

Why are you arguing over semantics? Obviously its going to end at some point unless DC is immortal. Many years could be 5,10,50. Apparently, as the income is substantial and on going, he has no reason to quit anytime soon.
