Kids who were born when this game started being developed are 9 years old right now. 6-9 more years and some of them might even goon to this damn game and I bet it won't be finished then neither :KEK:

At least Kompass didn't go the AI slop path *cough* taffy *cough* tales *cough*, that deserves respect (y)

I have a memory specifically related to this. Almost a decade ago, DC and maybe a dozen of us all hung out (online) together while he livestreamed making art for this game. We had a lovely time.
Anyway, during this period we were all very excited about the game and its potential. We asked him when he thought it would be finished. He said [paraphrased], "Probably not until 2019 at least, but I could stretch it until 2020, I'm sure."
I asked him why he would stretch it out (I was very new to all of this back then), and he said something to the effect of, "I'm only paid while I'm working on it. So, I hope to still be working on it until 2020, 2022, or even 2025 or later."
I remember him saying that, and here we are.
I'd like to mention that it wasn't always easy to tell when he was being funny. And I think he enjoyed cultivating that impression.
Right, so I don't know much about the legal bits, but I believe that in his current arrangement he has no legal obligation to ever finish this. His career is creating Summertime Saga - not completing it. Moral obligations aside, that's how I think it is.
I would reckon he'll finish it when he's tired of the current situation.

He'll finish it when he's tired of all that money he's getting monthly. :)

So to translate that: never.
I mean... why would he? Did you see how many patrons he has?
He could've finished this game years ago, but he didn’t — because then he’d actually have to create something new, start everything from scratch, etc.

It's much easier to just slowly roll out 'technical' updates with — let's be honest — no real content at all.

Ok, maybe it's just me but having played this game from the beginning, downloading the Tech Update without the ability to change relationships or an IC patch seems pointless. The game and story make no sense without the IC relationships.
