Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't DC say this update would conclude all of Debbie's content? I've always been critical of people who called DC a scammer or milker, and while I still stand by my words, I'm really doubting if DC is doing anything in good faith anymore.

Regardless, I think at this point DC and his "team" deserve all the criticism they're getting, no matter how vitriolic. The development of this game is getting worse and worse no matter how you look at it. I can't believe there's still people putting their time and energy into hating or even worse, defending DC.
I have a question, what development, is there really any new content since the last big patch? This game is probably only supported by people who farm patreon because they don't remember to remove support and new players.
I mean, I can understand a mental block, problem with the code, limiters, etc.

But with the amount of money he generated he probably could have asked someone for help and that's not counting all the people who would happily offer to help him in some capacity.
One would expect that after 6 months to a year of nothing, they would bring something totally new or fresh to offer.

OMG!! I played this about 2-3 years ago. And now I see it's a re-work that will likely take years to complete and get the game where it was before!!??

The previous time I checked the thread; it was flagged as abandoned.

I'm typically on the dev side, but I do not think Summertime saga will see me again.
Not until the game is caught up where it left off....and that seems to be several years away.

Will check in in another 2 years...

Good luck everyone, but this is too much for me.

"the mythical man-month"

ie. that never helps, instead it slows you down more.

what he should do is sit his ass down and work. that is, if he was interested in advancing the game, which he obviously isn't. probably lost any interest to work on it around the time patreon made him cut all the interesting parts, but the inflow of money made him switch to this "work a month per 2 years to drop an update" mode he's been in forever.

for years it was still worth it because in the end he still delivered something, however little, but even that hasn't been true for years. and all signs point to it never becoming a thing again.

I came here just to ask why there are still people following the development of this game? This has become a joke.
because following it is free. especially if you are using a tool like f95checker which automatically notifies you when a game updates (rather than merely someone posting in the thread).

while this game is drip fed to us, the drippings are tasty and don't take much time to eat.
so when f95 checker says there is an update. i download it and spend 5 minutes playing the new content.
then it is back to waiting another year for the next update

To be completely fair he does have a team to pay for. And taxes. And insurance. And general COL expenses. When all is said and done he could legitimately be pulling minimum wage figures.
"He could legitimately be pulling minimum wage figures"?
This guy? You really think that?
He created this game and spent all those years building it — just to earn minimum wage?
I don’t think anyone really believes that.

Sure, he’s got expenses to cover, but he’s definitely making decent money off it.

Did you see the new changelog?
Someone said he released five minutes of content after two months of work...
And he’s not even working alone — he has a whole team behind him.

that means splitting the money with more people.
and finishing the work faster (which means no more money).
financially speaking, it is smarter to do everything himself. and work as slowly as possible.

I was thinking that I couldn't be disappointed but damn... this is bad. They supposedly have been working on the tech update for 4 years, do they really not have anything else ready to release? I guess we will have to wait to the end of July to get another 5 min of gameplay lol

He's got six people to pay, and himself to consider.

But tell me how I know you've never had to manage a budget before because 200 grand- the high end estimate for this project- split seven ways after Patreon's cut, and taxes doesn't get you that far.

Some transparency would be nice but yes, he could easily be doing this as a side gig because he's not making enough money off it directly to justify 40+ hours a week.

For 3 scenes it took 2 months. I completed this update, maybe it's time for me to retire from this forum and I will just tell my grandchildren to play and enjoy in 2300yr

The only thing to learn here is the shortcomings and flaws of the Early Access model of game development.

This aint a "scam" in the traditional sense of pump'n'dumps, rug pulls or a false bill of goods, its a simple predatory exploitation of the Sunk Cost ffallacy. Deliver the bare minimum to keep credulous rubes on the hook.
