Just saw the post from March 10th. That's fucked up. Not only is Patreon making DC change his game to fit their content standards, but he's even changing his development priorities now. For those of you who loved the incest content and support the game because of its initial focus on that and initial quality, I hope this change makes you re-think your loyalty to DC.

Why would I be mad at DC for something he had ZERO control over? It wasn't like he said I'm gonna remove content. It was told to him remove it or lose the platform to sell your product. Yeah, that's probably gonna screw a few things up, but it's not like he said I quit, took the money, and ran.

A developer can still make a product containing whatever content types they like, they just cant use Patreon's financial services to fund it's development process if it contains restricted content. There is nothing stopping a developer finding another means to fund the development process, or to continue the development process without funding. They are still able to promote and allow the downloading of their product without using the Patreon web-site.

You may remember that there was a time in the recent past where funding services like Patreon didn't exist, yet some how developers of those times were still able to created games like Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, DOOM, and the like.

He was told what he couldn't do. That's censorship. Now it's also a violation of the rules, and that is a predecessor to the censorship, but it's still censorship.

Actually, anything involving credit cards like visa or mastercard makes it pretty much impossible to generate money off certain content. They find out, they will cut off your ability to use their service.

I think you're misinterpreting the recent drama. Here's a summary: DC is keeping all scenes and characters. DC is planning on changing the familial relationship into a nonfamilial one to comply with Patreon's recent policy change. Everyone's split into one of two sides "Okay, that sucks, but we'll take it" and "OMGWTFWHYNOINCEST" (spoiler alert, not all incest fans are on this side). So people have discussed that A: he needs money to continue the game, so he can't just say 'FUCK YOU PATREON' and B: Alternative sites aren't as reputable so people may not continue to support him if he quits Patreon. Patreon does not allow official patches (apparently anywhere) to revert the content back to incest, so he can't have two versions on two sites. You kinda fit into the aforementioned latter category, lashing out at everyone and DC despite this being the most financially stable option. Next time, read up on what's going on instead randomly making an ass of yourself.

And for the record, I have no personal feelings about DC either way. He seems like a nice enough guy. But I don't support his game anymore, either financially or creatively. Bowing to censorship this onerous (at least when we consider that the dude is making an independent porn game) is bad news for everybody.

That being said, I agree with you on one point about my position: fuck Patreon.

What do you mean 'try this on for size'? Did you not basically reiterate the same thing I said? We're not talking about a company grunt here. We're talking about a guy with with 8000 people supporting his entire livehood to continue producing original content here. You would have to be either certain of your success or batshit insane to risk losing that. It's easy for you to call him a sellout when you don't have all this pressure on your ass.

You have to improve your CHARISMA stats: you have to meet Eve's gang at night in the park and win the rap battles.

BTW, the game itself is telling you to do so. Pay attention at the dialogues.

Hopefully the 0.15 update will be released and people will stop arguing about the same thing over and over and over and over...

It is censorship, but Patreon can do what it wants (within reason). It sucks, but you know DC could just take his ball and go home. I don't think he's got plans to do that so maybe be a little patient

People need to know about what they're talking. That's no censorship, guys. Patreon is a private company offering a service to people. To use Patreon you must follow their rules, which are made by them. Maybe you don't like the fact that incest is forbidden and I understand it, but that's no censorship. Please, use words with their proper meaning.
And since the game will have the incest back at the end (maybe at the very end, but it will have it), I'm glad that for now the update will not be centered around the family. I don't like incest, but I can accept it, but in SS it was starting to get quite frustrating to see "guys, what can we do with the next update?" "incest" all the time.

That is an invalid association, just because someone stops you from doing something ('artistic'?) doesn't automatically make it censorship.
eg.
If a home owner stops me from painting the side of their house in an artistic manor (without their permission), are they censoring me?
What about if the relevant people stop me from holding an impromptu and loud rock concert in my local park at 3am, is that censorship?
Or if the local furniture store stops me & some friends from have a long discussion while sitting down on the store's floor stock, would that be considered being censored?

The developer has no intrinsic rights to be able to access Patreon's services, and the develop is still able to create whatever they want just not on Patreon.

Just on a short note since it's very much offtopic and since you have clearly no idea that you are talking about. Both of that isn't true. The third reich ist studied/taught more than any other topic in germany's history lesssons ad swastikas are clearly allowed for education and art.

Else it's likely all been discussed. Patreon listens to their payment providers and they listen to their costomers/don't want any scandals. That's how capitalism(!) works and has nothing to do with any kind of government consorship.
