See, that's the thing. At what point do you consider the game finished? When the story about MC's dad is finished? When the dating and prom system is in place? Because there's nothing stopping them from continuing to add more content to this game for the rest of your life. I'm not sure what anyone thinks the end goal is supposed to be.

I mean... The game certainly would have replay value with all this, but this is asking for a LOT of things while you're also dealing with pregnancy game overs to avoid and other side quest issues that seem intent to come up as more content is put in. I would say that the game has a finite ending. It's just the point in how you get there. You certainly need to build up the foundation for it or you'll really falter before you get to the finish line.

That's certainly AN ending but I don't see that it needs to be THE ending. Like... Okay, bear with me here, I'm going to be a total fucking dork and compare Summertime Saga to minecraft for a second.

Minecraft has been in active development for like ten years, right? For the longest time it was just a sandbox. Build, dig, mine, collect. Then partway into development it got a boss and an ending screen. That wasn't the end of the game and it was definitely not the end of development though. You can keep playing well past that point, and a fuckload of content has been added to the game since then.

Same deal with SS, right? Yeah we could have the prom thing constitute AN ending to the game complete with a cutscene and credits and all that but there's no reason for the game to be over there. Continue on with the sandbox. Prom is over, dump that bitch and move on, keep adding new girls, new systems, new locations, etc. Just like minecraft, development on SS could theoretically continue on forever if they wanted it to. That's not, as I see it, patreon milking. That's the nature of a sandbox game.

wow when i saw the wall paper #6 i had to look back to see the other versions of eve i have to ask what was the point of getting rid of her pierced nips i mean she already has a unfavorable design in this next update to her as in current Eve is far better

now it seems like shes looks like punk version of Roxy with smaller tits and just blue dyed hair shes still good looking imo but before Eve had a unique design and that is why people liked her and her personality



i have to ask was anyone happy with how the development of this game has been going on last good update imo was back in Roxxys update

we shouldve gotten Eves content a update after that but instead during that over year we gotten

Eves redesign in the next update

so my question is what was the point of adding more story to already existing characters when we yet to expand on the main story or side characters

i really wouldnt mind this if this game was updated monthly or 3 times a month but it takes 5-7 a month to get a update out nowadays (current update progress is at 38% so i guess it will another 2-3 more months for the next update)

w/e the case im still going to play the game but yeah this game really has gone down hill since Roxxys content just wanted to say my thoughts about the game

It's been a while since I've actually played this but Eve getting a redesign I'm surprised about she was just perfect the way she was why change her? I love the punk-looking type of girl why mess with success.

The honest answer is probably that DC simply didn't like her as she was. I mean, after all she's, as far as I'm aware, the only character who even had 3 design versions (though one of them never made it into the game), unlike for example

There's actually a pretty detailed roadmap of what to expect provided by DC. So it's more or less clear what's still missing and what's optional. The only thing that's really in question is what's going to happen with all the content, that's still missing, once this map is filled.

I guess we'll see how things turn out. Until now DC had the intuition and skill to make SS the most popular NSFW-game on patreon by quite a measure, so I guess it's fine for him to be confident in his and his team's decisions. As said, some will be unhappy, some will prefer the new design...

Yep, this. When you have one person with complete creative control, obviously he's going to make things to his own tastes. That's always going to get mixed reactions.

Yeah, though it's probably not even that easy. Quite a bit of old content still technically needs a rework, like Erik, Mia, etc. and there are certainly a few other things DC would like to add (Kevin's story) or will add (more monster girls) at some point. On the other hand I could see him scrapping stuff like the poker games or even the harem feature in case something actually happens and in case he wants to move on. So there's still quite a bit of wiggle room in that overview.

So, your point is? To not make it happen because, it way too much work and it's hard? No one is disputing that, no shit it would be more work, but not hard to do. Especially, if you have 50k per month backing you.

You have no idea how much work it would be on sploosh's, catbug's, and my part to implement all the little interactions that could and should happen between the different characters. We do add little changes to dialogues here and there, but we can't do everything for each update, they take long enough as it is, and we want to release fairly regularly.

All those minor additions will be done as part of the beta for Summertime Saga, it's just polish, and as long as all the stories are not wrapped up and final, we could make polish additions that would end up being scrapped in a later update, we don't fancy working for nothing, you see.

You have no idea how much work it would be on sploosh's, catbug's, and my part to implement all the little interactions that could and should happen between the different characters. We do add little changes to dialogues here and there, but we can't do everything for each update, they take long enough as it is, and we want to release fairly regularly.

Why did you (Not specifically you, but whoever it was) decide to lock X-rays behind creampies instead of the toggle system that was in place? Its a literal downgrade in every right, and you would think with a bigger team, and insane dev cycles, the last thing you would be doing is downgrading things.

I personnally see this as an upgrade to the old system, cause I feel like the X-ray only matters at the end, but that's just my opinion. I don't know what is the exact plan for the future with those xrays. I think I remember DC talking about adding more and more variations of them, and improve them. Also, there will be a setting in the future to toggle on/off xray, from the options. I don't see the appeal in having an on/off button straight on the sex scene, as it doesn't add much, and takes up space. Having an option in the menu though is definitely doable, won't take up space on the sex scenes, and should make everyone happy.

I went into much more details in my numerous devlogs on reddit, but I'll sum it up for you :

Saving and Loading stuff is hard. Saving stuff is relatively easy, but loading a save can be incredibly complicated, because you have to figure out a way to turn some arbitrary data back into variables, their contents, and their types. It's not trivial.

When you save a renpy game, renpy saves a snapshot of the game at that state, saves every variable, every object, everything. When it saves that data though, it also saves unnecessary stuff, stuff that is subject to change in future versions of the game.

Loading the save data used to be done directly, i.e. set each field, each attribute, each variable from the save data. But what happens when a change has been made to an object and that object is loaded that way? Well, the old version of the object is used, but some attributes that the game now expect to be there, aren't there anymore, because those attributes didn't exist when the save was created, hence, a bunch of weird glitches.

Fear not though, save compatibility is coming in 0.19. 0.18.6 saves will not be compatible though (it's too much effort to translate the old save format to the new one, and even if I did, it would be very hacky, and supporting that doesn't seem like a great choice). Theoretically, 0.19 saves will be compatible with 0.20, 0.21 etc.
