Microtransaction would surely be predatory, but as said, I'm sure many actual companies/devs would try to add premium content into the game, if they had such a huge audience, that's obviously willing to pay.

The main storyline was concluded in October 2020 - finding out what happened to the MC's father. There is still the storylines for getting a date for the big dance and earning enough $$$ for college.

But yes, the developer has stated several times over the past six years or longer that this game is pretty much "open ended." As long as there are fans wanting more content, as long as the development teams has ideas, and as long as they are enjoying what they are doing - even should the three storylines get completed - there could still be more content released over time.

Patreon doesn't allow these games, either and that's not the official setting anyway. If the game is viable on patreon, it's theoretically workable on Steam, too. Being a DIK and others have proven that. And even if that's the case, it would take DC a few days at best to change the setting to a proper 100% university, if he'd really wanted to release the game on Steam.

Taffy Tales is a case of following the leader due to Summertime Saga's success. That's honestly not a rarity, a lot of games on this websites copy certain aspects. As far as I recall (it's been a while), there aren't really any plans to expand this whole milking thing beyond Veronica and even that is going to take so much time. At least I'd be surprised if we'd see anybody but Diane, Daisy and Veronica - then again, who knows...
