As a community, we're overpaying for this. DC made 0 efforts to hire another artist, which is the only way progress would accelerate.
DC likely doesn't want anyone else drawing because he views the characters as his own creation. It's a common territorial thing with artists, especially for small projects like this compared to large-scale studio workplaces where multiple artists work on the same characters.
I see that side of it and maybe some of it's true, but I'd say more likely than not he just wants all the money. I mean, if Patrons aren't going to force his hand to increase update speed then why would he?
His art style isn't special or anything and I'm sure he could find someone who could do an identical job that works even faster than he does. It all comes down to greed though in the end, and if people are willing to wait for his snail paced small updates then hey, he should do it. You know the saying... "there's a sucker born every minute..."
If save compatibility ever comes, maybe people will start to clearly see how small these updates actually are, and how absurd it is for someone to be making that much off so little content. It's straight robbery from foolish people really. I stopped pledging to DC a while ago, and have no intention of ever doing so again. Just felt like my money was better off being given to other creators who deserve it more.

He's actually been addressing this art point in streams a lot lately. (Probably because people keep bringing it up)
He's apparently looked for some and none have fit the bill of what he wants out of an artist. Results were either too slow, weren't interested or required too much instruction to get the job done. He's even asked fans to try and find someone interested in the job. (Albeit a little angry when asking but still...) Also he's paying like 4 or so other people at the same time so he's not getting that much more out of the patron's money than most creators.
Also the save compatibillity would come sooner if the fucking patrons would vote for the characters that are in the old code base. But maybe having a system where patrons vote for what comes next is a bad idea at this point.

It's perfectly fine to say that one think it's too slow, but I don't think it's fair to say that DC only cares about the money. It's his project and there's no obligation at all to speed it up just for the sake of speed. I wouldn't say he has no obligation to speed it up. I'd say he's obligated to update patrons and fans more on whats happening.

Well, he's by far the most transparent dev I know. You have 3 different progress trackers (which is unique), usually 4 to 5 streams a week where you can talk to him and he's available on discord besides that. I mean, there's not much more he can actually do - or what would you like to see?

Progress reports on patreon (bi-weekly at the least).
They don't even have to be too specific.
"Hey guys. This week x% got done. We're currently in the middle of working on assets/scenes./ We're stuck on this bit with the code and thats why you don't see x progressing."

Well, that's what those trackers are for and people can get those informations anytime they want. I mean, he can't get more detailed than them without totally spoiling the update. Sure he could do it but I don't see which actual additional information you'd gain.

It's not about gaining any new information. It's about accessibility and the feeling like you're getting information. Most people who aren't patrons don't have access to/ or don't know how to get said information. Keeping your community constantly updated is important even if its mostly bs it's better than leaving them in the dark, especially when the internet is as dumb as it is.

Well, that's certainly a sound argument though I still don't really agree with the whole basic premise. As said, it's nowhere easier to get all those information in detail and if people can't be bothered they have no real reason to complain either. That said, given that his patreon numbers look very good most people seem to be happy anyway.
A fine point in art skills is being able to follow a model sheet.
Imagine that being said about any other game/movie/comic book and you'll understand why I think DC is laughing at everyone who gives him money. At current rates he's looking to make over a million dollars for this piece of shit. Hats off to him for finding so many suckers.
i can not understand why they did the remake of mom, aunt and sister... it was already good... so we wait month for a really new update ... thats a pity
