VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Sunshine Love [Ch. 3 v1.01i Extras] [MrDots Games]

I decided that I'll write a review as soon as the game is finished, but still was pretty surprised it finished anyway.

In this masterpiece of a seemingly generic harem game, MrDots fully unleashes his bag of smoking hot characters of all types. Story-wise it's still you basic MrDots - the story is sort of like a coating on a candy (sex candy), IMO in many ways it's even better than Melody. It won't sweep you off your feet (probably will make you yawn at times) but it works perfectly for an AVN.

Endings are ENDLESS in this game, to the point that there are ones that are surprising even for me.
Overall, a great addition to MrDots' collection of good games, now 2 and counting. Now that he found the formula I hope he keeps 'em coming, but by the time the next production cycle is finished, I'd be out of this place already.

Cozy. That is the best description of this game and of the author's works overall. This is a long novel with decent writing and world building. All characters have dimension and you can choose the relationships you want the MC to build. This is the first game where incest is an option that I opted out and went for the 'childhood friend' route. I am glad I did because it was much more believable. The models are kinda doll-like (but come in most shapes and sizes) and while some animations are superb, some are only so-so. If you are tired of the fuck fest (although this novel gives you that option too) and want to invest a little more in a slice-of-life story with some decent character development, this novel is one of the better ones. I could feel the love the author has for his/her work.

This is a slow burn game, with a long story (that will not win a literature prize any time soon), lots of girls and a decent to good gameplay.


Models
I have mixed feeling in regards to the models: on one hand I really loved some of the models finding them appealing and attractive (Ashley the MILF, Kristina boobs, the sister), especially variety in bodies (petit, normal, milf) and different type (european, asian, redhead, black). Even so I feel like the petite is more underaged.

Story
The game present a good story, with ups and down and something to keep your brain busy between the wanks. Your actions will bring you in the arms of one or more girls so there is quite a bit to explore to obtain all endings. That being said given the high number of love interests, even if it is harder for the developer it will be great if it will be possible to have avoidable interactions with some characters to be able to achieve kind of a "true love" ending.


Gameplay
As always I am not a fan of splitting a game and having to download and play each part. The interface is lovely with a good first impression. Even so the gallery mode is missing. The animations are nice and fluent.

Still one of my favorite games. The individual and group storyline possibilities are great. The narrative content, potential issues, and love interests all make for and engaging read. Plus the lewd scenes are very well done.

After DmD this was quite disapointment. The characters are quite appealing and attractive, the graphics is good as well. But the overal story and build-up of tension and so on did not feel right. Too much focus on some hotel managment, which you cannot alter anyway.

This game could've been a lot better, I'm just gonna leave it at 3/5 stars. A little background of the story, MC lives with his girlfriend and both of them are working until he lost his job all of a sudden. Decides to take on a job at a hotel owned by his long-lost step sis to earn some quick cash. Travelled all the way to the hotel only to find out step sis is lying, and that the hotel isn't doing good, and MC will not be paid but she badly requires his help to salvage the situation, like how is this scenario even believable? And the fact that throughout the game, step sis still has the audacity to be angry with MC and all, ghosting him and stuff, really dude? MC's girlfriend didn't like the fact that MC brought up a dream about having a threesome with her, but later parts in the game she decided to want an open relationship, like what?? I tried to not have anything to do with the step sis, getting the points into the negatives, but even then, somehow there's still some progression and scenes with her which I really disliked. And why is MC even kissing so many people, its actually pretty annoying, as in some runs I'm only interested in a particular LI.

There's also this urge to skip many parts of the dialogues in the game, because the conversations does not feel meaningful, and it makes the game feel very draggy and long. There's also way too many characters, which makes interaction with them a chore and redundant. The villains also just somehow wanted to buy the particular hotel for no apparent reason, and would even resort to murder? And how would going into the police station and looking up their private computers on information ever be a good course of action, along with stealing important documents?

What saves this game is just how gorgeous the girls are, with Ivy, Lily and Ashley being my favorite. The animated H scenes are also pretty good, and they are paced really well throughout the game. I really like Ivy's/Lily's H scene in chapter 3 especially, its so good! User Interface in the game are also pretty nicely designed.

The only thing worth 5 stars would be the animations. I think that at least 50% of the game's dialog would be dispensable, since it doesn't add anything interesting, it just makes the game tiresome, and I'd say that 80% of the thoughts are unnecessary.

Better than its predecessors. I Loved Melody and DMD, but this game is TOP TIER. The Girls in this game are all unique, quirky and absolutely Gorgeous. not a lot of these types of games have character bios, so thats a nice touch. The Animations are good and the Artstyle as always in Mrdots Games flawless. i would recommend playing this game. def in my top 10 now.

Most games do not have enough content, this one has way too much. Way to many characters who are there needlessly, and amount of content could be halved without the story line being impacted in anyway.

If you like slow burn games, this might be for you. Respect to Mr Dots for the high quality renders, and plenty of content.

Just maybe work on the pacing and less LIs because it gets a bit draggy getting to know them. Somehow, didn't find the story engaging though.

Great game. I love the fact that it is not another fuck fest. The plot makes sense also. The girls don't fall for the MC's huge dick. The models look good and the animations are beautiful.

The game is overall good but not best because of not having harem ending. I understand harem ending is not practical but still it's a game. Dev should consider a harem ending side with single endings. It will make the game the game perfect for all. Overall nice story, nice graphic and nice story buildup for each character. This game is design to have engage and have fun with each character so it is legit to have a atleast one harem ending though in the end you are force to become with a single character ending...that kind of sad me a little.. overall the Dev deserve a ❤ for making this game..Hope in future he might include a harem ending in his other games .Thanks

It was a good game. I got the ending that I wanted, but it didn't look like it was going towards that ending because I didn't get to spend much time with my LI.

It would have been nice to send more time with my choice leading up to the choice at the end. It would have felt more justified. The game , if you went full blown harem, gives you the choice of all them individually, which is fine.

I would have liked it if it didn't try to push you towards the main female. Maybe it wasn't for some, but it felt like that for me.

TOOO boring, I love this dev first game, but this one... I played for 3 to 4 hours, and the only thing I did was read a bunch of boring texts and interactions between the characters in boring and cliche situations (beach, restaurant, etc).

I can't stand the soulless characters in this game, and the writing is bad. The only positive point is the visuals, but at a time when we're inundated with this type of game, that's just not good enough.

Let me start with the most idotic thing that will piss alot of people off.
Game claims to have meaningfull choices that will shape relationships, it claims you can go for true love or stay faithfull, all of it is bullshit.
MC also keeps talking about how the girls is nothing and just a summer flirt and how theres no future with them, so you can take that true love and forget all about that, game truely dosent uphold any promisses.

And the sister will have no such options you will have her forced on you no matter if you like or hate her, every other LI you have the option to follow her route or not and as for relationship points they mean absolutly nothing i testet this and with -27 relationship points with the sister you still end up in bed with her, so for the sister its 100% fake choices, i picked the worst possible all the way and it ment nothing, not only that your given choices like "make out with her" and 2 other choices but when you pick the other 2 like go to bed alone it forces you to pick something else untill your left with only make out with her......its awefull when you want nothing to do with the bitch.

And to make matters worse even if you as the player shows 0 interrest and even try to stay away from the sister, MC will still want to be with her and want to fuck her and such its extreemly annoying that you cant just stay friendly like with every other LI you dont want to be with but MC acts like the sister is hes wife and worry constantly about hiding stuff from her and how she wil react to every little ting MC does....its brainless, think kind of stuff is a constant in game MC being submissive, brainless, affride to talk about anything with anyone, hes supposed to be a lawyer and theres simply no way hes just to much of an idiotic that dont know laws or computers or anything its crazy, and even after breaking up with the sister MC is still affride to talk to her about anything or if she will be worried about MCs ex GF will try to get him back, none of that makes any sense what so ever.

And when you can finaly friendzone her its not even you/MC that does it but the sister that stops it and MC feeling bad about it happening, its really shitty writting, you dont even have the pleasure of putting her in her place and tell her to fuck off......

Also story constantly reminds you that MC has to leave to go back home after the summer because he has a life back there.....it simply just make no sense at all, since back home he has no job, no GF, no appartment other then one he has to sell, so what life is it that is so importen for him to go back to???

To much just dosent make sense, you have a MC with a nice girlfriend that cant wait for you to leave her for 3 months to live with an old female friend of MC.....you get every feeling that she just wants to break up with MC so it feels a bit idotic, if she had broken up with MC story would make a little more sense really.

Then MC goes to hers old childhood friend/sister and finds out shes lied just about everything and she cant pay MC either and just need MC to help her save her hotel, MC calls hes girlfriend who does everything she can to get MC to stay....its simply just to weird since this isent a NTR game so she shouldent be fucking around or anything right? so why she dosent want MC to come stright back i have no clue.
MC also just forgive to easily so much that he feels more submissive then anything else, put the bitch in her place and dont go back to her 5 mins after saying he needs to clear hes head....wish he a bit more of a backbone.

Another small thing is that MCs childhood friend/sister has also been in a sort of relationship with a dude for 3 years so kinda make it pointless to go after her and break that up since this isent a harem and MC is already spoken for so its kinda a weird game.

What makes it even more weird is when MCs girlfriend calls to tell MC she wants an open relationship, i played a faithfull playthrough so it really just ruins the game knowing you girlfriend is free to fuck around when you dont want that and dont want to do it your self and it kinda gives the NTR feeling which is stupid on its own even if she dosent do anything the idea is still put in your mind.

What makes it even more stupid is that you have already been given the option to stop routes with multiple LIs which you might not have done knowing this shit coming up, i alreayd turned down 3 LIs routes...idiotic...

I really dident like MCs sister/friend she treats MC like garbage, lied to him from day 1, never listen to MC, runs away like a kid for days, and yet game will force you to get kisses, handjobs, BJs and shit from her no matter how low your relationship points are, its idiotic so you cant stay faithfull and its not a harem game so not sure what it is, maybe a how to cheat on your GF trainer? and when she does that shit MC just goes "oh i should stop her but it feels so good" i mean wtf be a fucking man and trow the bitch to the curve.
Game is way to kinetic and your forced to shit you might not want, and relationship points means fuck all.

It also feels like MC goes one way when you go another, like with the sister he wants to be with her and have fun with her, even if your on someone elses route, you can have 100+ relationship points with someone and MC will wonder why that girl acts or does things, but never thinks like that with the sister even if you have 0 or even minus points with her.... its truely idiotic, even with choices when you agree what the sister did to you was bad, MC changes it to "we can still have fun"??? why??? and this is faithfull route???

Its also really annoying how MC constantly and i do mean constantly worries about what the sister thinks, its like they a married or something, he worrys what she thinks when he goes out to visit someone or what she will think if he tells her someone slept in hes bed, i mean why the fuck worry about that none stop they arent a fucking couple what so ever....and yet its like he has to ask to be allowed to visit someone or go somewhere....makes 0 sense, going on a date with someone and MC has to ask if the sister wants to come along i mean whaaat the fuuuck??? even the sister thinks "maybe i should allow MC to spend time with other people" come gimme a break wtf is this all about...they arent a fucking couple why would she have to allow MC to do anything thing shes NOT hes fucking wife or GF or anything, who writes this shit i mean really, and when he kiss some girl he always goes "i sure cant tell sister i kissed someone" why that fuck not?
MC also constantly question him self, "should i tell her or not""should i feel guilty of kissing her" its like hes brainless and cant figure anything out.

The brainless only gets worse as you go along, someone who MC knows is a spy that worked for hes ennemy, comes back and say "oh i dont work for him anymore, we can be friends now" and MC goes to lala land and thinks sure why not i can trust her...... and she can help since she was a good spy, lets ignore that she got cought by a 18 year old.....yep totaly makes sense and she couldent possible lie about anything right..... it just dosent make sense in any way what so ever, had he taken the black highly trained girl along that would have made sense, but a spy that no one would ever trust... nah shitty story again.

And the last thing, the virgin scenes are really bad, most virgins has 0 pain, 0 blood and all pure pleasure, pretty much like any normal sex scene, i think one said ouch out of 4 girls but it was nowhere near a deflower scene even though MC says he deflowered her.

There are a bit of everything, bit tits, small tits and they all look nice so there should be something for everyone, it does get ruined by having the sister forced on you like she is.

They are good enough to enjoy but still only average.

Just background music that wont set any moods for scenes and you can pick what it plays so just average stuff.

There is also a task menu which is absolutly pointless, you dont have any kind of takes or choices or options its purely something that gets done following the story which makes it kinda weird and pointless to have that.

One of the best games I've ever played. Images, graphics, sound effects. Everything is almost perfect.
After completing 3 chapters, I think part 2 is definitely the best part. Many sex scenes and character lines are built in quite detail.
The saddest thing is part 3, when everything went quite well. The ladies work together at the hotel, besides they all accept that the MC can date many people at the same time, which is a great opportunity for us to think about true Harem sex. It's a pity that I haven't been able to witness that yet.
Maybe that's a bit greedy, but I really want part 3 to last longer.
Anyway, the experience the game brings is extremely wonderful. Thanks to the developer, I also hope to see the MC have sex with Ashley and Trisha many more times - best MILF ever.

For me, this is the definition of a 3 Star Game. Nice Graphics. Few spelling mistakes. No Engrish (British-isms though). Dialogue is off. And at least 1 big plot fuck up in the branch I chose.

The plot fuck up = MC is in an open relationship. He tells everyone he’s in an open relationship. In particular, he tells the LOVE INTERESTS he’s in an open relationship.

Yet, if you date multiple LI, the LIs… AND the MC… act as if he’s cheating… referred as “infidelity”… all the way to the endings… what… in the actual… fuck? Drama for drama’s sake…

As I said, though: It’s a decent game. Great release schedule. But, it’s a Mr. Dots game… i.e. entire swaths of conversation seemingly copy/pasted from wiki in a “Did you know that…” type exposition.

So, why in the FUCK am I giving it 5 stars?

Ending sucks. Way too difficult to get a good one, especially with the 2 best characters. It was a very long game and a lot to play to have it end like that, and a bad ending completely ruins a game. Guess there could be ways to cheat hopefully.

This one is a great example of how a game knowing what it is trying to do covers a great many sins. There is no particular bit of this game that is outstanding, but it accomplishes its goals and for that I give it a solid 4.

The good:
* Excellent UI. Easy to keep track of the good-sized cast, you can easily toggle routes to experiment with scenes, a little "bonus" game (donuts) that doesn't hurt main gameplay, transparent LI scores..... other devs could learn from this.
* The renders and animations are solid. They aren't spectacular, but given the massive number of CGs in the game they are as good as we have any right to ask for. And in the special scenes where the artist and animator took their time, they are downright excellent.
* The pacing is good. They manage to give you a steady flow of sex while still slow-burning where they need to by simply having a ton of LIs (which they can get away with because of the excellent girl-management UI). It's a simple formula, but it works, and it requires a lot of effort to pull off.
* The fetish content is mostly vanilla by f95 standards (incest is core and there is a decent amount of lesbian stuff), with a few quirks you can opt for here and there. Nothing wrong with that. It's not a fetish game, it's built for the masses., and the approach ensures you aren't grossed out by what you hit. (They clearly learned from their NTR experimentation in DMD.)

The bad:
* The writing is, well, Mr Dots. A slightly-stupid MC, a plot that would be silly if it didn't take itself so seriously, 1-dimensional villains, entire paragraphs that appeared to be lifted from product descriptions on the web..... it's just not good enough to justify the amount of words spent. That being said, it does do its job, although your spacebar might be a little bruised by the end of it.
* The endings are enjoyable, but a little rushed. I'd have not minded if they hzd broken the endings up over two or even three releases and made them a lot meatier. A long game deserves a big payoff, and an extra 15-25 CGs per ending would have felt a lot better.

The ugly:
* I already mentioned the plot as "bad", but some of it is worse than that. It's so downright awful it completely takes you out of the game in places. Yeah, it's a porn game and I'm not expecting Shakespeare, but c'mon..... the Evil Businessman is so upset that the MC won't sell the hotel he wants for no apparent reason, that he shoots him in front of a crowd of people? Really?
* The characters are just not compelling at all. Their back stories are weak, their motivations are silly, and their reasons for obsessing on the MC are comically flimsy. Fortunately they are all hot and easy, so it's possible to just love 'em as sex toys.

All in all, it's a bit of a guilty pleasure. I enjoyed the game enough to pledge Mr Dots the whole time and play every update as soon as it came out, so they are obviously doing something right.

If you're looking for a nice fap game that is less cringe than some Japanese WTF-burger and won't try to bother you with feels, this is a really good choice.
