Personally, I would be very surprised if Cole improved his skills any after his loss to the MC, because that would mean he was still a person, capable of learning and growing as a result of choices he made. I can't believe that Tanos is just going to fix him up. That "I'll fix every last thing wrong with you" as he grins at a helpless Cole does not come across as a sincere promise to help. Nah, if Cole ever does come back, he's coming back as components of a chimera. Not really him anymore, just him giving one of Tanos' creations some firepower.
Did Shen knew what the Doctor did with the people he bring? I wonder what Zara will do, if Cole comes back as a chimera looking like a Resident Evil Boss or worse, being made in a ammo for Jared.

You're looking at it from a mechanical perspective, a lot of what the MC does in his training is a matter of skill, technique and practice. The dependency on regeneration is a matter of tactical skill.
skill as a stat is would appear to revolve around melee skill.
Well for MC yes because because he does not have nothing with range, now because we train the memory part of our powers we can make a lot of combos, The only training Cole got to improve was when he was little with Xante.

My guess would be that Shen knows. It would be hard not to know with the volume of people he's been feeding to Tanos' lab only to never emerge. He's probably just deluded enough to think things like "it's worth it for Big Sis' goals" and "at least Tanos is on our side". Zara, though, she might not know. Given Zara's importance for S.I.N.'s command system, Tanos will probably not unveil any sort of Cole Tyrant until he's got a way to get her under his thumb like how it's implied he's going to do with Charlie.

Skill as a stat almost certainly is about how well you fight, not just melee skill.
Not only does that make more sense, as there's no other stat to reflect other aspects of fighting ability, but Klaus had similar skill to the MC and still loses in melee because he's not that good with a spear specifically.
The only other people with a character profile we've seen were as unskilled in melee as they were with their power.
Cole needs no explanation, all Danica does is look at people to mark them or send crosses at them, and Oscar is mentally retarded.
