My personal head canon says that the Shopkeep is the original God, the one whose individual elements were split into the Arbiters, and then those Arbiters were split into the Apostles. There's a lot of talk in MC's dreams about the Apostles being "God's X", so it stands to reason that there was originally just God, who, at some point in time, split into individual components.Just finished what is currently available and, just like the last time I played, I can't wait to see more. Doll Ella is much more tolerable than regular Ella, and I do feel for her knowing that she likely suffered greatly under Tanos and was our friend, but I still think the things she's done put her beyond redemption and she either needs to die (all versions of her) or be purged of her powers (doubt it's possible). That final battle in the monster dimension was awesome, especially when MC and Michael "fuse" together to fight the undying monster.
Edit: Also, not entirely related to the monster realm stuff, do we have any idea what or who exactly the shopkeep is? He can manifest in the monster realm and other realm, he seemed to know what Amber and Liz would become, could take a cow from one of our dreams, and has dealings with several superhumans. I know he's a very minor character, but he interests me.
I imagine the Shopkeep to work like how Withers from Baldur's Gate 3 would. Possible spoilers for BG3, but Withers was the original God of Death, but he gave away his powers to three individuals, who would become Bhaal, Myrkul and Bane. They're not a complete package, just aspects of Withers powers when he was the God of Death. And then Withers is there, in your party, making sure you succeed in your quest, which I see the Shopkeep doing the same.
This is all just my head canon, of course, and could be the complete opposite of what WeirdWorld wanted with the character.
