"I was really enjoying the story"

the story:

Yeah, I honestly didn't care much about the story, i was in it for the character models. I always thought the cartoony designs with more realistic graphics gave these games a more distinct look, and made for some really hot characters. But it seems most people don't agree, given how few games take this approach, and the ones that do don't last very long (this and DDL come to mind). Happy Summer is another that always caught my eye, but the reviews kept me away.

This is the better "Happy Summer" Game. Almost the same characters with a better gameplay. Hope he start working on an update, soon.

This game has to come back, to the developers, it was top
I definitely agree. I keep checking back on Discord, but I haven't seen any update from the dev (Cock Juicer on their Discord server) for quite some time. I think he's just super busy with IRL stuff, to be honest. Still, I do miss him and this game for sure.

Development Update - Back on Track!

Hey everyone

Long time no see!

I wanted to give you a quick progress update to those that don't follow my discord channel.

I'm back to working on the game. Unfortunately the development was on pause for a while since I was busy with work and some IRL stuff, but now I've picked it back up and things are moving forward again.

I finally have more time I can dedicate to the game. Thanks to all of you for your patience and still following me.

Here's a list of things that I've been working so far:

✔ The story continues! Adding new content with a brand new location
✔ A new character will be introduced in the next update
✔ A new fairly straightforward sandbox mechanic with a morning/day/night cycle that will allow you to switch between locations and interact with characters
✔ Reworked the intro (day 0) content, updated with new renders and slightly tweaked the story
✔ Updated a variety of dialog lines across the game, but there's still a lot of things that I'd like to change for a smoother story progression
✔ QOL updates - added new fonts, styles and dialog boxes

There is still some work I need to finish before I can fully release the update, but I'm getting close and will try my best to release it before end of March.

Sit back, relax and stay tuned for more content!

Thanks,
Yours R.B.

Very surprising, after all this time I though this game was certainly abandoned.
I hadn't assumed, although I did worry. Razzyberry hasn't given me personally a reason to distrust him, so when he said he just got swamped with RL crap, I believed him. I did still wondered if he'd be able to continue, though. Looks like he's finally managed to get back to this, so that's nice.

It's not mistrust, it's just how things normally start. First a dev gets swamped, then spends a year or so not working on the game, then realizes that he forgot a lot of things about the game and the direction he wanted to go with the more minor plot points, then he realizes that it would be about the same effort to start a new game then trying to remember/continue the current game, then he starts wondering if he even wants to keep making the game and in most cases that's where it all ends. And this game hasn't been updated for almost 2 years, which makes it extremely uncommon for a game to come back after so long, generally speaking.

Also, Razzyberry is actually a she.

I disagree that this is how things normally start. Yes, it happens often, but there are plenty of developers (whom I won't name here b/c of F95 site rules) who start and just keep going without stopping their games at all or even slowing down. It varies considerably from developer to developer.

I thought I'd remembered Razzy being identified as a man, but I guess I was confusing her with someone else.

'Normally start' as in how it normally starts when the dev stops working on the game for a long time after getting swamped with other things in their life, and then ultimatelly abandening the game. I was replying to your comment about the specific situation, I wasn't talking about all devs there. Of course there are devs that never pause.

I was just pointing out that it's very unusual for a game to come back after such a long time even if the dev was honest saying other things came up in their life. It's not necessarily a question of distrust, as you mentioned in your original reply.

A long pause itself can cause a dev to abandon a game even if they didn't plan to do so when they initially stopped working on it. It could be because they end up losing interent after a long time, or because they forgot a lot of details about the game and the direction they were planning to take with the story; and that can make it more work to get back on track then they are willing to do. Thus, the game gets abandoned.

After almost a 2 year pause it is highly uncommon for a dev to pick a game back up regardless of their original intentions when they paused it because a lot of time has passed, and that fact can cause problems when it comes to further development of the game.

Starting a new game would honestly be much easier since I now have far more experience and have learned a lot from my past mistakes. My current work involves not only creating new content but also improving older elements, such as updating renders, refining dialogues, and ensuring a smoother story progression. If I had the opportunity, I would implement certain aspects differently.

However, starting fresh would mean abandoning my current game, which could break the trust of the community that has supported me so far. I believe that balancing improvements while staying committed to my existing project is the better path forward.

Also, Razzyberry is actually a she.
Where did you get that from?

I had to pause the development of the game because I simply didn’t have enough time to dedicate to it. When I first started, I didn’t take the game too seriously in terms of dialogue and story progression. Now, I realize that 99% of the negative reviews on this forum highlight the dialogues/narration as the biggest issue, and fixing it isn’t easy. I have to update the existing content without disrupting the overall story.

I’ve already improved the game’s intro with better renders, narration, and dialogues (not released yet), but there’s still a lot to do. I’m not sure if I can finish everything before the next update, especially since I’m also working on new content, but I'm trying my best to do so.

You didn't know you were a she? :ROFLMAO:
Is this now a thing too?! So people can identify with whatever gender they want, but now we also have to allow other people to assume genders about us and go with what they say? :WaitWhat: The world is so damned confusing as it is; changing the rules all the time doesn't help. :HideThePain:
